Are there any travel nurses out there? How long did you have to wait after becoming an RN to be able to be a travel nurse? Do you enjoy being a travel nurse? Which states have you had assignments in? I am thinking about becoming a travel nurse as soon as I can after I graduate, so any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! :D

At Talemed the RN's are required to have at least one year of nursing experience. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

You need at least 1 year experience. The money is good, but remember you get the crappy patients the staff nurses do not want. You always get the isolations, airbornes, droplet precautions. I work on a telemetry floor and I always have 4 patients while the staff nurses have 3 patients. I am always the first to admit since I am a traveller...but it is all worth it whenever I look at my paystub. Oh..and you get paid weekly..that's plus.

To get paid more than you would working locally AND have all your housing, travel, and transportation expenses paid! Can't beat that!

Most agencies ask for one year of nursing experience then others ask for 2yrs. I would suggest waiting for your two year mark or at least close to it. You want to feel totally comfortable as a nurse before you travel b/c believe me, they will throw you to the wolves. I started my first assignment in San Antonio, Tx I started just 2months shy of my two year mark as a nurse. I got 2 days of orientation on my assignment and that was it! Of course there's always other nurses around for me to refer to with my questions but most of my questions consist of the hospital policies and where stuff is located.
