  1. CPNE Prep

Can I ask you when you applied for the CPNE and what your date is? I've been hearing about very long wait times. There are a lot of good groups on facebook. DO NOT waste your money on the flashcards, it's just the CPNE study guide printed out on smal...
  2. FCCA 274A

I just want to say that I found this thread SO helpful. I also use an academic coach and I find it very helpful. I am currently studying for both FCCAs. Many people have said studyguide 101 will get you through it, well I find it lacking, not horrib...
  3. Hardest EC Exam

LS2 and Repro were the hardest for me.
  4. Reproductive Health

I'm currently studying for this too after putting it off for...months. I'm using content guide, Saunders, and the recommended text (old edition) right now to study.
  5. Recent experiences

I just passed Transitions today with a record low study time of 4 days. Still have Reproduction and LS3 left. I'm hoping that it's not too unrealistic to try and pass them both by October 14th. If I make the deadline, I will be enrolling in both FCCA...
  6. Recent experiences

I'm trying to get mine done before the testing format changes too. Also, before the deadline for the next FCCA.
  7. I couldn't do it, but that doesn't mean you can't!

Thanks for your honesty. I believe that this program, especially the credit by exam program, is meant for people who enjoy self-teaching/self-learning and have a history of doing better on tests than on traditional homework. I spent a two year break...
  8. LS 2 ...umm?

Update on LS2 - I took it today and I passed with a B! Not bad, for 13 days! I used studyguide 101 and the Practice Exams to study.
  9. How do you fund your education?

I'm taking the exam route, and I have to say it is a very cheap option. I work 32 hours a week as an LPN and that covers my Excelsior expenses. I am worried about the price of the CPNE, but hopefully I'll qualify for tuition reimbursement at my job b...
  10. LS 2 ...umm?

I've scheduled my exam for this Friday. Thankfully, I have had plenty of free time to study. I only started this course 10 days ago, but I feel pretty confident that if I sat for it today, I could pass. I've taken most of my exams with 2 weeks of stu...
  11. LS 2 ...umm?

I just took practice exam B after a week of studying. I got a horrible 48% on pratice exam A. I got a 61% on practice exam B. Looks like I still need another week of studying Curse you, Metabolic Mechanisms!
  12. I think, as the original poster put, the ability to keep your head down and say "yes mam" is a big one. At the risk of sounding sterotypical, I want to say that I've seen a lot of promising young men kicked out of some programs due to their inability...
  13. LS 2 ...umm?

I'm studying for LS2 right now as well. I'm hoping to get this one done in about a month. Not too worried about the psych parts as it's one of my favorite topics and I already took an RN psych class and clinical at a brick and mortar school. The rest...
  14. NCLEX Practice Questions

I have a question about NCLEX practice questions and how they translate to the scores on the actual Excelsior exams. Do your scores on practice questions translate pretty evenly with your exam scores? Or are your actual exam scores ending up a higher...
  15. NCLEX Practice Questions

Well to answer my own question, it seems your scores on Saunders practice questions correlate pretty well to the score you will get on the exam. I passed the LS1 exam today with a C. On to LS 2!
  16. Recent experiences

I'm currently enrolled in LS 1. Taking the exam sometime in the next 2 weeks. I failed LS1 before after studying for about 2 months. My practice test exams were in the 50s and 60s and I got a D. Definitely skip studyguide101 for LS1. The notes they g...
  17. I have found studyguide101 useful, but only for some courses. Saunders NCLEX review books are great help for the nursing courses. One tool that I haven't seen mentioned much by others in this forum is Khan Academy. They have tons of great lectures on...
  18. Failed LS1 on first attempt

You're not alone, I also failed my LS1 exam. I also used studyguide101 and the practice exams as my main form of study. LS1 was the 3rd Nursing exam I took...I studied for the others for 2 weeks a piece and got Bs. I studied for LS1 for 2 MONTHS and ...
  19. I have LS1 scheduled for tuesday ....

I haven't scheduled it yet. Usually I don't sign up for a date until I feel ready. I live near several testing centers and I can usually get in to take an exam with as little as 24 hours notice.
  20. Vango notes r.o

I just wanted to say that after reading this thread, I downloaded the Vango notes for Med-Surg and I really didn't like it. I'm an auditory learner, but the people reading spoke like they were robots and they mispronounced A LOT of words (at least...
  21. I have LS1 scheduled for tuesday ....

Wow. I got pretty much the exact same scores as you...A 52% on Practice exam A and a 63% on Practice exam B. I saw another post by you where you said you passed the exam. Do you mind me asking what grade you got on the real exam? Also how much more s...
  22. Chronicity exam.

Took the Exam today and got a "B" I was thrilled as I had gotten Cs on my practice exams. Time to move on to LS1 :)
  23. Chronicity exam.

I'm taking the Chronicity Exam on Feb 2nd. The only area I'm having to study a bit on is the Sensory Impairments. Got a 75% on Practice exam A. Still haven't taken B yet.
  24. Taking multiple classes at once?

I prefer to decrease the amount of time between each exam rather than increase the number of tests I am studying for at the same time. I have signed up for multiple classes at once, but I never study for more than one at a time. What I mean is I migh...
  25. Transfering credits to Excelsior?

I just applied to Excelsior, wanting to beat the October deadline for the changes to the program. I've submitted all of my transcripts but they haven't been received/processed yet. I was wondering if anyone has had any problems having credits transf...
