  1. Ethics making you quit?

Has anyone ever had an ethical struggle that has caused them to leave a job? I just started this new job. The place is in a lot of trouble due to a recent state survey. I had to "redirect" a nurse as to an illegal activity with documentation that s...
  2. Hi Everyone.. I just want to get a feel for what I should expect in an orientation for a new job. I'm not a new nurse, been one for 6 years, but have been out of the patient bedside nursing for two years due to a medical issue. I just got "canned" ...

  9. Job offer rescinded. Deflated!

caliotter3 - I've considered it, but I don't think I will be happy there. I'm not financially strapped (yet). I do have another job with fluctuation hours (unfortunately) so I can hang on for a bit. I really wanted to try daytime hours., but am th...
  10. Job offer rescinded. Deflated!

Unfortunately this is in LTC.. so there are not many other preceptors available but the two I trained with. I did explain that I wanted to come in and dedicate two or so hours to only computer training, but that was not even considered. I was on sp...
  11. Not new RN, but orienting and feel DUMB

I did take extra effort to thank one of them for her patience, and I understood how frustrating training can be. That didn't help.. today I got "canned" so to speak.

  15. Dilemma

I supervise and work a floor in LTC. A patient of mine has cancer, and due to the location of his cancer, his blood glucose levels were "trending" down. We have orders to report BG below 70 to the MD. I mentioned that I would be reporting this to t...
  16. Here's why you don't want this job.

Just spent an hr in an interview w/the interview'ees telling me WHY I don't want this job. Everything I said - this one woman rebutted w/a negative response as to how that may not "work" for me.. or this won't be a good "fit".. What the hell was th...

Thanks everyone! I am feeling a bit better.. I should have taken the hint about the vibe of the organization the moment I sat down in the waiting rm and listened to the receptionist complaining to her coworker about this and that and everything else...
  18. DON a big borderline?

I'm finding that the once believed sweet DON, has been trying to split people.. Myself and my CNA's included. How should I handle this? I have found out that she lied about something one of my CNA's had said to her and wanted to ADNS to "address" t...

  20. DON a big borderline?

  25. Reasons NOT to give APAP for fever?

I've heard of the pre blood culture holding of the apap.. but are there other instances when you would not give tylenol? Would you only give tylenol for a low grade fever IF the patient felt the fever uncomfortable? Thanks all.. = )
