  1. "Recovery" and public shaming

I've tried but without success to see the point of why state boards post board orders for everyone to see. Has this been shown/proved to increase the recovering nurses morale, spirits or hasten their recovery??? I mean, an employer is required to go ...
  2. 3 Tests in 5 days!!!

What state are you guys in? Why are they doing blood tests? In Texas it's urine only as far as I know and it's either $55 or around 80 if you use an afterhours collection site.
  3. Seriously?! Grrrr.

Lol, and how would that be a random drug test if you had 24 hours to drop a sample??? Let's be honest, not all nurses here are sober and cheating this "system" is not that difficult. It's now 2AM in Houston, this is the time I check mine almost every...
  4. Still Waiting to Hear

Not in Arizona but mine in Texas took close to 2.5 years. Continue with your life, as hard as that may sound. There are almost 10 steps/processes in texas and each took up to 3 or 4 months.
  5. ER visit paper work for TPAPN

Not trying to be rude but isn't this kind of question better answered by your case manager or monitoring supervisor? Not on TPAPN but all I do is fax the script and ER visit summary. I don't get scripts for more than 7 days. If you're on long term me...
  6. Recovery Trek

I'm sorry dear but you make no sense. Maybe correct your post or offer more details. The boards of nursing in all states do not communicate by hearsay or over the phone, they do so in writing, that you have to sign and notarize. Anything that anyone ...
  7. Recoverytrek option 6

Is there any reason why people keep asking for this numbers??? All of them are 12 panel drug tests, with added testings for tramadol, prescription drugs, alcohol, synthetic drugs and so on. So regardless of what option you'll be getting a 12 panel. I...
  8. Hopes for the New Year???

Other than the date, is there anything that changes. I'll be asleep whenever the new year gets here. Have to be up at 4, and continue with the requirements of the draconian Texas BON. So, nothing different this "new" year other than the date.
  9. this should be interesting..

Call me stupid but I've googled it and there's no contract that allows drinking. If it's an error then you're in big trouble. Just because it doesn't mention alcohol doesn't mean you can partake in it. Mine doesn't mention meth or cocaine😀😀😀...
  10. Need advice from my fellow nurses in recovery!

As far as pee tests, are you in a rural area?? If not, find a lab that will send someone to you or one that tests after hours or early in the morning. If you work in a hospital then use your labs, it may cost extra but you can tell them to call you w...
  11. This whole warm body deal is pure BS, excuse my French. I did plenty of assessments, discharge teachings, paperwork and so on in exchange of me not being able to pass narcs. In addition, I could follow up on effectiveness of pain meds and so forth. S...
  12. RN in IPN waiting for HR

Rule number one, NEVER EVER tell HR about your order, NEVER. 99% of the staff have zero knowledge of board orders, all they know is you are bad for the company. Only tell the person interviewing you, if it's a floor nurse, insist that you need to tal...
  13. Switching fields

Has anyone looked into switching from Nursing to Occupational therapy or Physical therapy. As a certified occupational therapy assistant, the pay is not that different from an RN, and yes, pay is really important, I have a morgarge, medical expenses ...
  14. Living Will Tattoo

I didn't read the replies nor did I read that article so this may be a repetition of answers already given. My 2 cents, tattooing DNR or no intubation is not an actual living will though. There has to be more to the story. My guess is he was a "freq...
  15. Suportive Advertising ?

Don't post then get mad for honest replies. Anyway, I'm not an alcoholic but isn't alcohol everywhere from every gas station, every wing place, pizza joints, Walmart, grocery stores and so on. If you're sober then you pass this places without any iss...
  16. Suportive Advertising ?

Ads are generated by what you look for or at. At some point you or someone using your phone searched for alcohol. It's really simple. These are not random ads.
  17. Update: Well ain't this a *****

Good news people. I had 4 nursing homes I had mapped to apply at. Woke up early, said my prayers, took a long shower and was at the 1st spot at exactly 7 am. They have paper applications so the receptionist let me fill it and told me to bring it back...
  18. Are you better off?

Nope, massive debt, broken up family (mostly due to lack of finances, job in different city), draconian BON rules, list goes on. They (the BON) increase you're stress level by 1000%, limit places, positions and hours you can work, require you to spen...
  19. 2 year sobriety, thank God!

Congrats, 1 day at a time
  20. Well ain't this a ******

Ok people, rant time. So I applied to a facility in Dallas, gave them my whole story, told them I'm looking to relocate because of family being in Dallas/Denton/Fort Worth. Interview goes great, ADON introduces me to everyone (staff that was there). ...
  21. Blood Test

$110 is excessive but hey, it is what it is. I would shop around for prices and also have an extra $500 or so just stashed for "tests." The last thing you want is for your contract to start all over again because you missed a blood test or whatever e...
  22. PEth false positive

Do a polygraph test. If you really ain't had a drink in 16 months then you'll pass. It has to be from a board certified center. They cannot dispute the lie detector. It's available in Texas, don't know if it's available there.
  23. Well ain't this a ******

MJ48 I've had to do blood tests for hepatitis titers at every job I had so it's not a biggie. As for the drug test, it was the cheap cup test and I always go in with the mentality that "they" think I am high so I'm usually hydrated and drink coffee o...
  24. Another Casualty of "Recovery"

He needs to lawyer up and fight it. That would be an easy win. Like I've said before, these programs are nothing but income generators for certain individuals. At least in Texas it is. Lawyer up. Just my 2 cents
  25. Well ain't this a ******

Recovering RN, I'm not on TPAPN, I have a board order with the same stipulations though, 3 years of drug tests. I don't think sitting it out is an option in Texas since you only drug test when you're working as a nurse. At least that's what the compl...
