  1. helppp, i think i hate nursing

I sincerely feel your pain. I have stuck it out for a year, about the shortest time that looks good for looking for another job. It is rough working the night shift and not being a night person. I also have had minor things that would not have happen...
  2. I understand your pain as the floor I am on is the same way. It seems like management finds all fault but never acknowledges the things done well or even sees your real performance because they are never there. Good luck in the future...
  3. Going from nights to days

Wow, you sound just how I feel...except I would like to find an alternative to bedside nursing. I love the patients but want more time to impact them one on one. Days on our floor are insanely busy and you really can't even find a place to sit to cha...
  4. New Grad, First Clinic Job advice...

I don't have much advice but to use your observation skills and notice what goes on around you. Do you have a training period? Don't be afraid to ask questions. I am curious to how you found the position? I am looking to get into a situation like yo...
  5. I dont know if it is right or what?

    Good luck!!
  6. when do you take the NCLEX?

Depending on your own comfort level with taking it right out of class, you might ask around about a review class if that is something you might consider. Sometimes you can take it and the paper work fills in the time gap between graduation and when y...
  7. How many miles does an average RN walk per shift?

I was talking with a nurse who wore a pedometer and she had 12,000 steps for a 12 hour shift. I think that is more than 3 miles but I am unsure of the step and mile equivalencies.
  8. which would you choose?

    Congrats on getting 2 offers!!!!!!!
  9. Silly question about white scrub pants

I was just like you when I started nursing school. I tried a bunch of things like getting pants liners, etc. In the end you see so many variations of white in the hospital that you get kinda desensitized to it all and just wear them. We found that wh...
  10. I failed 3 times...help! anyone use nclex-rn 4000??

You can customize the NCLEX 4000 and work on the areas you need to concentrate on. The questions seem adequately hard. I think this is a link to an online version of it but not sure. University of Texas Medical Branch - Nursing You might give that a...
  11. Cushing syndrome

Wow, that is a big mistake!!! Especially for people here who are trying to cram it all in their heads!
  12. different testing sites-NCLEX RN level of difficulty?

We were required by our school to take the ATI test after each clinical class. They were ok. They get you in the mode of answering questions NCLEX style and some of the schools make it mandatory to pass these to pass the class. I think it improves th...
  13. studying to take the nclex-pn exam

Have you practiced questions like those that would be on it? "Studying" is overwhelming but during a review class taken for the NCLEX there were many who did not study, failed, and were now taking the class after their unsuccessful attempt. Good luck...
  14. Free Practice Test for you to try! Lets compair scores!

71%. I hate when you reread the question and realize that you didn't read the stem correctly no matter how many times you practice these.
  15. running out of time =/

Our review class instructor mentioned asking your PCP for a prescription of Inderal for 3 days for test anxiety. I thought this was interesting. Just thought I would mention it.
  16. Review class and scheduling NCLEX

My class just graduated at the end of Aug, 2010. A lot of us are taking a review class before scheduling the NCLEX as we took a BSN and many of the classes were so long ago. I have a job offer at a place where I work and the job letter says to contac...
  17. What is priority here?

Here is a practice question from our study guide for my LAST FINAL!!!!!!! What do you think the answer is? A nurse is assessing an elderly postoperative client who is exhibiting signs of delirium. The nurse observes that the client is convinced t...
  18. What is priority here?

On the floor I work on as an aide, we would assess the LOC and either put the patient in a room near the nurses' station for slight change, or get a sitter for them for more severe cases. I would actually get cultures on them as this could be a sign ...
  19. What is priority here?

Can you believe that in many of my courses they do not give the answers. Even if you email the instructor and ask, many times they do not get back to you. That is why I thought I would get a concensus from some good minds here.
  20. Daytonite has passed away...

We will miss you. Daytonite's answers have helped me through many a grueling assignment.
  21. Cleveland State University or Cuyahoga Community College

Wouldn't Tri-C be cheaper? Look into their accelerated ADN program at Tri-C. I think they had one and it only took 1 year to do. A group of students that were in this program were at Marymount when we had clinicals there. Good luck.
  22. HESI or ATI EXIT Exam Help

Do lots and lots of NCLEX questions. They help as they are somewhat the same format and get you thinking. Try to do them specific for your coursework you are doing.
  23. Senior year here, Yay!!! We have to do a class presentation on transitioning from student nurse to professional nurse. I am wondering for those who might have gone through this transition recently if you would share your wisdom, what you wish you wou...
  24. Life's Messy!

Amen!! Preach it!!! I had nursing students come up to and ask the BP of a patient they were supposedly taking care of. I didn't see them once take care of the patients they were assigned to. They were only marking things on their forms. (I am also a...
  25. feeling down

Getting the hang of keeping on top of things in the clinical situation is extremely hard. I am starting as a nursing assistant to get some experience and just to learn the tricks of the trade. I keep busy by watching the other nurses, aides, see what...
