I was contemplating working at a hospital as a pct/nurse tech after my first semester of nursing school and wondering the approx. pay. thanks:nuke:

i know in my area of florida many hospitals have stopped hiring LPN's, so if you go the LPN route you may not have as many opportunities when you graduate

i've learned to buy used textbooks, you'll probably use them again and in my case the bookstore wouldn't buy them back because they switched texts. i also take my lunch to clinicals most of the time.

just to clarify my previous post, i was warning you about sharing grades etc because i'm in the same situation. first semester people asked me what grades i was getting, i told them and they would proceed to tell me i was lucky for getting those grad...

i'll do just about anything to avoid studying;)

I'm still a student but I became interested in becoming a CRNA after my endo and OR observation experiences. I've always been interested in surgery and i definitely like the autonomy and skill involved.

i think everyone has a different experience. some people never study and get a's ,some people study for 8 hrs/day and still fail. easy for some , not so easy for others. you'll learn quickly not to tell fellow nursing students that you get good grade...

passed dosage calculation, passed skills, thank goodness!

idk i know i messed up by not knowing the specific meds, the instructor said we didn't need to memorize them, a lot of the other students said the same.anyway, whatever, i know what i need to do to get a better grade next test.

so approx half of our class failed the first test, there were some really low grades. skills evals on friday. I passed (barely).

The first week is over what does everyone think? I think it will be more intense than 1st semester but do-able. Good luck to everyone!:wink2:
