  1. If I am not mistaken, in order to bypass the internship this way, the board requires you to have worked 500 hours in the state you are endorsing from. I might be wrong, though. :)
  2. Hello, I am scheduled for NCLEX-PN tomorrow. I have been taking the practice tests and for the most part, not doing very good on them. How many of you have had poor performance on the practice tests, but passed your boards? I dunno what the problem i...
  3. Practice test scores correlate with passing NCLEX?

Thanks. I only did 1400-1500 practice questions. While I was taking the exam and feeling extremely incompetent (lol), I thought, "I should have done more questions. My scores were too low." So much for that ,right?
  4. Practice test scores correlate with passing NCLEX?

I passed. I did the PVT the day I took the exam and got the good pop up. I was going to check my quick results this morning, but my friend sent me a text and said I passed. I got on the boards website and sure enough, I did! It was actually on there ...
  5. Practice test scores correlate with passing NCLEX?

Tomorrow was the only day available for the next month. I need money, so............ I'm medium, maybe a little more than medium in my confidence. What in the world have I gotten myself into? LOL :) g
  6. Hello, I am graduating from LPN school at Galen in Louisville in about a week and a half. I am looking into ISU's LPN-BSN program. I am wondering if they require that you graduated from an NLN accredited LPN program to enter their program. Apparentl...
  7. ISU: Does it matter where you went to LPN school?

Update: I called ISU the other day and I told them I was interested in their LPN-BSN program, but I needed some clarification on one thing. So, then I asked if it mattered where you got your LPN from or if they were looking for LPN graduates of NLN a...
  8. Lied on...what to do?

Why wasn't the syringe put in the sharps? I guess the best thing to do is to admit you should not have left it there. Everybody makes mistakes. Own it, learn from it, and move on. Gwen
  9. Admission to EKU's Programs

I just discovered today that EKU bases their admissions for their ADN program on a points system. I have a BS in Psych from there, but honey, I need something more! LOL Anyway, I inquired as to what the average number of points is for those who are ...
  10. Galen's PAX-RN Test?

I took it a few years ago when I was going to go to another program. I did not study at all and scored in the 89th percentile. From what I remember, it is similar to the ACT. I would think the PCAT would be very different than the PAX-RN. :) G
  11. I might be wrong, but aren't there 240mL in 8oz? Gwen
  12. Galen College

Yes, I was referring to paying some of my tuition out-of-pocket. My tuition - financial aid = a balance. You might get lucky, though! I am not sure how they are doing the payments now. Best to ask your financial aid officer or maybe one of the stude...
  13. Galen College

Just to let you know, you might have to pay some even though your EFC is 0. Mine was, too, but I had to pay out a nice little chunk of change. So, just be aware of that. If I were you, I would start getting my shots, etc as soon as I could after get...
  14. Withdraw - I'm really not sure?

Oh, wow! That is a tough decision to make. A nail biter for sure! It sounds like you have had three exams thus far and have one more "regular" exam to go plus the final, correct? Ok. So, let's see. How much is each exam worth and how much is the fi...
  15. How do you study for clinical check offs?

Practice makes perfect! We do not get kits or dvd's, so I used a baby doll since I am the only human that lives in this place. LOL We just had our first check offs last week and man, I thought I was going to freak out. LOL My anxiety level went thro...
  16. What makes more sense...?

It is doable. There are those who commute and make it through. Personally, I would not do it as I would be concerned about traffic, the possibility of car problems, the time it would take away from studying and day to day things that have to be done...
  17. Would be good to click on the Specialty tab and go to the Psychiatric Nursing forum. Also, it would be a good idea to purchase an abnormal psych textbook. I have a Bachelor's in Psychology. I recommend "Abnormal Pschology: Current Perspectives." Als...
  18. Galen College

I am in my first quarter at Galen. Plan to be out about $1000 to $1200 for the above. You will get much better deals by buying your books on ebay, amazon, etc. Good Luck! Gwen
  19. University of Phoenix-math question-PLEASE ADVISE!

Hello MommaNurse2be, Any time you want to know if credits will transfer, you should get that information directly from the school/schools you would be transferring those credits to and no where else. Your school or state may have an online transfer a...
  20. Right way to study?

Now, for the test taking chapter! Test Taking High-performance students don't worry themselves with how they are doing; they focus on what they are doing. If You Panic During an Exam Close your eyes Take slow and deep breathes Talk to yourself posit...
  21. Right way to study?

The other day I was at the bookstore and came across this book: "Mosby's Tour Guide to Nursing School: A Student's Road to Survival Kit." This book is a must have! I wish I would have had this when I was working on my psych degree. I am about 50% fin...
  22. Helping my wife look for classes?

It is my understanding that you can get your CNA in no time. Tell her to contact Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Bluegrass Nurse Aide Training Center, and to call around to the nursing homes about the CNA course. I think that there is anot...
  23. How long before you know @ Galen?

Hi, I am waiting to find out if I got in at Galen. After your file was complete, how long was it before you knew? I am about to die! Thanks very much! Gwen
  24. Hello Old Skippy, I sure am attending Galen! I am in Group A. Good luck to you, too! If we do not run into each other at school, we have this site to connect on! So, that is good! :) Gwen
  25. I have a bachelors, too and am starting an LPN program this month. Although I am going to get my RN, there are several reasons for getting my LPN first. To start with, I was able to get in and get started without having to apply to a million programs...
