  1. $31,500...is that too much for a lpn program?

Wow, that is a LOT! Definitely look around before dropping that much money on a program. I'm in a 12 month hospital diploma program and my tuition is $10,000.
  2. should I cut my hair?

I have really long (down to my lower back) hair. It really hasn't been a problem for me! During clinicals I twist it up into a bun. It works!
  3. nails in school/work

Our school requires short nails and NO polish at all - not even clear. Yes, they check. It's a huge infection control policy in our hospital system. I have always had great nails, so this was a sacrifice for me, but I take comfort in the fact that...
  4. What color are your school's scrubs?

We have white bottoms and royal blue tops. Not totally bad (I could do without the white bottoms), but what really irritates me is the STYLE we had to get. The pants are the "classic" (meaning HIGH) waist elastic band type. They are so uncomfortable ...
  5. I Got My Acceptance Letter!!!!

Congratulations to you!! You're going do great in school I know it! :)
  6. Frustrated & tired of Waiting

I would be pulling my hair out too! I know someone who was notified the FRIDAY before NS started that she was to be there bright and early on Monday morning. Talk about a shock! Anything can happen.. hang in there!
  7. For mrsraisinkain

Best of luck to you!! You can do it!
  8. 2009 Grads! Come 1 Come ALL!

The LPN program is 12 months. Then after I work as an LPN for 6 months I can get into their bridge... approx. 10 more months of school and I'll (hopefully!) graduate and be an RN! It's a cool deal. Yeah, I'm signing my life away - so to speak - to on...
  9. Lpn

    Congrats!
  10. 2009 Grads! Come 1 Come ALL!

I'm in a hospital program. They agree to pay the tuition (not books and uniforms) if you agree to work for them for 2 years. Not too bad of a deal, especially since they also have an RN program with an easy bridge system. :) Yep.. Supposedly next t...
  11. 2009 Grads! Come 1 Come ALL!

Hi all! I'm married and a mom to 2 young children. I started my program on April 21st and I will graduate on April 17th, 2009. We're wrapping up our first term this coming week (finals - AHHHHHHHH!) and moving on to term TWO already! It's flying...
  12. Had Orientation Today!!!!!!

Oh wow! I'm glad you had a great day. The guy who wouldn't get off his butt won't last long, I bet!
  13. Why did you choose LPN instead of RN?

I chose to be an LPN first for a couple reasons. One, because I'm an older "returning" student who didn't do so well when I initially went to college after high school. A lot of RN programs around here have waitlists and strict criteria and it just m...
  14. Need some input

Hi! congrats on getting into school! :) As far as how to prepare - honestly, just enjoy your "free time" and relax. if you're really itching to do something, maybe pick up a simple med term book or anatomy book. Or, if you know you're a little rusty ...
  15. I started LPN school today!

Good luck on your test tomorrow!!
  16. So Excited!!

Congratulations and best of luck to you!! :)
  17. When do things pick up?

I totally know what you mean. I'm in my first "term", and I'm honestly not finding it that hard at all. I'm pulling As and have all "Satisfactory"s on clinical days and I haven't worked as an aide in many years (been doing the SAHM thing :)). BUT,...
  18. When you are going to clinicals

Our school is really big on making carpool lists since parking within our hospital system is very limited. Some people do still drive themselves, but it depends on which one of the hospitals they are assigned to - a couple of them have limits on how...
  19. I Passed My Net!!

    Congrats!!
  20. Accepted into LPN program

Congrats on being accepted! I definitely had pre-program jitters. Now that I've been into it a few weeks - I'm not going to lie... I STILL have jitters, only now I'm focused on tests/projects/papers. You can do it!
  21. When did you start? How is it going? When do you finish?

I started on April 21st 2008... this program goes until April 09. We're halfway through our first "term" out of 6. I'm taking Foundations of Nursing I and Nutrition. Things are going great! There is a TON of material to learn, so it is a rarity t...
  22. My first day!

Um, I posted 4 hours ago that I already got my book today. :typing Thanks for the advice, though. I was leaning towards getting one when I got the note that our books came in. I do have to give the school and my teacher credit - they did go and photo...
  23. My first day!

It went really well, I'm happy to report. :) My class is small (it seems like a lot of people who were at orientation weren't there - not sure if they changed their minds or what), and everyone is really friendly. First off, we got our books. I'm ta...
  24. My first day!

I was actually able to pick up my book today, so thank goodness the "3 week backorder" was an overestimation! Well, I'm on day 4 today. tomorrow is our first "clinical", but we will just be going over rules, privacy, etc and then taking a tour of th...
  25. Did any have to Get insurance???

My school did the same thing.
