I agree with juliaann......have you thought about sales? When I worked in a pain clinic, and now in the OR, we have streams of folks coming in representing suture, beds, drugs, etc....they all are RN's with BSNs. They all seem pretty light-hearted....
Oh goodness................ save yourself some stress and get out as quickly as possible. It's pretty clear things aren't going to get better and very likely could get worse!!!! So sorry...... what an awful thing to go through for your first nursing...

I don't have any words of wisdom right now. IMHO the profession is in a crappy place right now, and more and more good people are becoming casualties. Rogue sounds like she has some good ideas for you. Just know that I read you and respect you. ...
I am pretty new to the OR, about 5 months in so far. I'm not 100% sure if I'm a perfect fit, but I want to give it more time for learning and to see if it's something I want to do long-term. :) That said, I am curious as to what it's like in other...

I don't really have any good advice for you. I think we all feel lonely at times; it's just human nature, and circumstances (a move, a job change, school etc.) can magnify that loneliness even more. I would hope your loneliness is transitory, but y...

Awesome. :) Congratulations on having a great job and being a great fit as well. I'm so happy you have time with your family, too ~ we can never get those years back. May you always hold your head high and know you make a HUGE difference in the l...

You might get better response posting in the OR Nursing section under the specialty tab. I would guess that 3 years volunteering for Operation Smile as first assist would count for a lot of experience, but maybe I'm wrong. Are you applying all ove...
Thank you for sharing. I respect your convictions. It is obvious you know who you are and have a clear idea of how to solve problems and work with others. Too bad those above you were not on the same page. 32 years in is a *gift* in the crazy worl...

I can't offer much in the way of advice; just wanted to let you know that I understand a little of what you're going through (I'm about 5 months in). The amount of information and learning is overwhelming at times. It sucks that some people have to...

I worked full-time in a non-nursing field during school, a job that was willing to flex around clinicals. It was not a particularly stressful job and one that I was pretty good at :).... the down side was that I didn't get the experience that would...

Agree with the above posters..... you HAVE to report this. I assume you were with a nurse at the time? What was their reaction ~ did they say anything? There is a reason such people continue to act the way they do...... it's because they do not get...

As someone with bad knees who works OR, I can relate a little. Gah! Here's to life ~ always unpredictable, bittersweet......and full of "blessings in disguise", as you said. :)

May 2008...did not take NCLEX until October. Was genuinely surprised to find out in the short time between spring and fall how much the job market changed. I could not score a job in a hospital, so was hired by a pediatric home health agency and s...
I am 5 months into the OR and my knees are killing me ~ went to the dr. and was diagnosed with bursitis. I'm sure my cheap shoes are contributing to the problem, but I don't want to invest a lot of money without some kind of guarantee. :) Anyone o...

Well I ended up getting some Asics gel shoes. My size and width made some of the other brands an impossibility. I have to say they have made a world of difference in my workday. Of course I still have knee pain, but it's much more bearable now. ...
