  1. "Must have's" for school and clinical

I am almost finished with my didactics. One of the best tools that has helped me through these classes a digital recorder plug-in for my Ipod. After you record it, you can sync it to I-tunes and it will import it. I have all of my lectures since I st...
  2. Samford University Anyone?

Who applied to Samford ths year?
  3. slower pace CRNA program?

Sounds like you would be perfect as a Nurse Practitioner.
  4. Haunted by a couple of grades

Depends on the school in which you apply. Some schools will take your circumstances into consideration. To be frank, some just don't care and go strictly by the numbers. My best advice for you is to start applying ASAP even though you do have the gra...
  5. Samford Interiew

Tuition and Fees comes out to about 7350 per semester over 7 semesters. That's about $51,500. Books for first semester will break your heart, but you really don't have to buy but a few after that. My first semester, I spend $1,230 on books. But you w...
  6. Samford University Anyone?

My first day was Monday, January 7. As packed as the semester will be, I'm sure they will start on January 5. That's just my guess. First semester is pretty tough. Summer semester isn't so bad. I will have to get back to you on the Fall semester, but...
  7. Last Year I applied to a school while I was still in the BSN program. I interviewed in August 07 and got in. My BSN degree was still pending. I completed my BSN a week after the interview. I applied to numerous schools with my degree still pending. S...
  8. Pharmacology Software for PDA

Does anyone have suggestions for PDA software to use in the OR? Students at my school are currently using LexiComp. My class was asked last week to make some other suggestions. What are you guys using? Are you happy/unhappy with it?
  9. Samford University Anyone?

Interviewing about 50 something and accepting about 25. Wonderful odds, but it is VERY competitive this year.
  10. CCRN exam

I bought two books from AACN, but I can't tell you which ones they were. One of them was full of practice questions. I used that one a little bit. The best thing that I did to prepare me for CCRN was a CCRN review course. I can't mention the names of...
  11. online BSN prior to CRNA?

I think that when it comes to a BSN, all that matters is your piece of paper. The things that matter to CRNA schools are you grades and past experiences. I have an online BSN degree, and I am in CRNA school. That's just my opinion in a nut shell
  12. Hospitals offering tuition for CRNA School

I am currently on scholarship with a hospital that I used to work for. I am still happy with the decision that I made because of the circumstances. It would take me forever to explain. Basically, alot has changed at this hospital in the short time th...
  13. Do I need a BS in nursing when I apply for CRNA programs?

I don't think that you will be able to get in with a BA in sociology and Associates in Nursing. However, I don't know why you can't get into a BS program with a BA in sociology. There are tons of upgrade programs out there.
  14. Looking at CRNA schools in the Southeast

I got in with a 3.46, but it was from the alternate list. It all depends on your competition. It also depends on all of your other scores/credentials/references, etc. No one quality makes you a shoe in candidate for school. Anyway, I speak from exper...
  15. Confused 23 year old, needs some encouragement

I am 24 as of today. I started CRNA school in January of this year. I can't wait to graduate. Since being in school, I have met alot of CRNAs. I have yet to meet a CRNA that dislikes their job. Every single on of them are passionate about what they d...
  16. SRNAs with young children

First of all, everyone is different. But, there are two girls in my class that have children younger than 1 yo, and they are doing fine. One of them actually interviewed on the day after giving birth. You just have prioritize and make the most of you...
  17. Where are you in your Didactics?

This week marks the halfway point for me in my didactic year. I look back and wonder where the last 6 months has gone. 6 more months to clinical. I can't wait. To those of you that have been in school for some time: keep plugging away and hitting the...
  18. Fall 2009 - Where is everyone applying?

4 of the schools that I applied to required a "Goal Statement" "Statement of Purpose" or whatever else you want to call it. The first one that I did was about 750 words. There weren't any clear directions as to how to do it or what they were looking ...
  19. Fall 2009 - Where is everyone applying?

If you go back to the 2nd post in this thread, you can find where I am the one that applied to 10 schools. Is it insane? Absolutely not. If you are one that has a 4.0 GPA and really good GRE, there is no reason to apply to that many schools. But, if ...
  20. A day in life of front-loaded program

Don't be intimidated by the high volume of exams. That just means that you have less information on an exam. I attend a front loaded program. It's great except for those times when you just need to see something to learn it. Class 3-4 hours per day M...
  21. No Problem. I took NO chemistry in High School. The only chemistry that I have had was a 3 week course at a community college. The only reason that I took that course was to apply to Samford University. I got an A in the class, but I can't tell you i...
  22. 'clinicals are on a rotating basis'

It's probably like my school. We go to a different site every 8 weeks. Some of them are local. Others are in different states. However, every clinical site that we go to has a call room that we can stay in. As far as the number of days per week, that...
  23. RN -> BSN -> CRNA ..... Acceptable Path?

I've done it. Several of my friends have done it. Where I grew up in South Alabama, there were several ADN schools around home. The BSN programs would require that you move. I graduated High School in 2002. Graduated with my ADN in 2005. Worked as an...
  24. Samford University Anyone?

You might get a clinical question or two. Be prepared. But the clinical questions that you get are related to your current clinical practice. Questions that my classmates and I got were all different, but they were tailored to what we did every day. ...
  25. Fall 2009 - Where is everyone applying?

That's great. Apply to as many schools as possible. It will only increase your chances. I applied to 10 schools and got into the 2nd one that I applied to. My advice to you for applying to this many schools is to start a notebook with all of your inf...
