I have completed my nursing pre-recs but they still tell me it is a 4-5 year wait. My question is, has anyone gone to everest Institute for LPN and passed the Nclex and been refused a job becasue they went to Everest? I have heard both pro and con a...
I don't know what TCN is recognized as in other states. I went to the ISU web site and on there in the nursing application it does mention TCN and its modules. I did look at my cancellation papers and I have until Sun. 5/12 at midnight to cancel my...
The three day clinicals are Excelsior and are held in WI. The clinicals through Indiana State University are held at a location near where you live and you set them up for so many hours per week. TCN offers pre-requesite classes for entrance to Indi...
I am a new nurse, had my LPN license for about 1 month and I worked at a LTC facility. While still on probation and working a 16 hour day, I made a med error. I gave a resident 0.50 instead of 0.25 xanax. I owned up to it, called the on call dr. like...

There is no nursing union. Before I was terminated I thought about calling some unions and seeing if they would come in and try to unionize us. Maybe if I had done that the management of the LTC facility would have taken notice about the seriousness ...

I don't know about the 0.25 xanax but that person also had 0.50 xanax in the same med cart and I gave the wrong dose so it was my mistake. I called it in to the on call dr and tshe laughed and said the person needed more than they could prescribe bec...

Thanks for you post. It made me feel a little better. I was told that if I refused to work the additional 8 hours it would be called abandonment and I would lose my license. I only had one 15 minute break for the whole 16 hours and we are not allowed...
Has anyone gone to Everest Instutute for their LPN? I am trying to get started in the January 2012 program. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Go ahead and finish. I am 53 years old and starting LPN school in Sept. in Mi of all places. There are a lot of jobs out there for us. You will probably have one before you finish your training as long as you pass the boards. Good luck!

What city are you in that you will be going to Everest? I am still on the fence as to whether I go part time or full time. Even though I hate my current job it is still money to live on.

I would love to go to GRCC having taken all the pre-recs at KVCC but I don't know for sure how long the wait is. I want to go into the LPN program but heard the wait list is 2-3 years. I am an older student so I don't have 2-3years to wait. Most o...
No matter what you are hearing, there are no jobs in MI, not even decent nursing jobs. I am finding that it is not the license but who you know in the industry that will get you the job. Good luck finding a job in MI.
I waited until all my kids were in college before I attempted any kind of career. I didn't feel it was fair to my kids or my employer since I would have to take a lot of time off for my family. I know I am getting a late start in the working world,...
The CNA's I know only work in nursing homes. Where I live, CNA's are not allowed to work in hospitals. The MA's have taken the place of a CNA and LPN's are not very far behind. The hospitals are getting really picky since ony RN's can dispense med...

From my experience working in a medical office, there are no artificial nails or nail polish allowed. We are professionals and are constantly washing our hands to stop the spread of germs to the patients and the staff. Also, very little if any jewe...

Anne, I think there is still money from MI works. I just got a letter in the mail last week telling me the amount of money I could get if I was still on unemployment. I go back to work tomorrow but then wil get laid off for the summer just before M...
I live in Allegan, MI and all the colleges in MI have long waiting lists for any nursing degree with the exception of the online LPN to RN program at KVCC. I am thinking of going to Everest even with the high cost of tuition. At least I will be thro...

I live in MI and the nursing school wait list is so long because of all the displaced auto workers. They got all their tuition paid by the state and were put first in line for the vocational programs at the local colleges. I did my pre-recs at a co...
I'm glad you are only 6k in dept after two years. I don't even want to think about the total cost of my eduation. Hopefully I can make it up after I get my license.
I am going to have to use loans for my BSN. Hopefully I can get a Perkins loan because the interest is less then a Stafford loan. The college I am attending is almost $24,000 per year and it is a four year program. I tried to get into the local co...
