    EC in Atlanta tonight!

I made it to the meeting. The dean of EC's nursing program was there along with some people from the Georgia Nurses Association and a new member of the GBON who happens to be an EC graduate. The school has provided legal representation for EC students who are in certain situations (to assist with applications and such). There were a lot of students with varying situations in attendance. I can't really say I know any more than before I went. It was reassuring though to know that so many other people are going through this and that the school and GNA actually give a crap...or they seem to. From what I understand there really isn't any help for someone in my specific situation, but I think that some of the other students and graduates will benefit from the legal help EC is providing. Nothing amazing happened. I didn't come home with a GA RN license. I've got a trifecta of RN licenses now, but still not licensed in the state I live in.

  3. I'm working in North Carolina if that tells you anything.

Hendersonville. Just because I have family to stay with there. I may end up in Raleigh come the middle of next year just because it's a bigger city and my hubby will be able to find a job easier there.

    Georgia Help!

I DO know what you mean. I even wrote the Secretary of State's office and all they did was forward my letter to Sandy Bond. I start orientation at my N. Carolina job tomorrow and I'm happy with that, but I still feel like I've been slighted. I passed my boards for Minnesota 3 days BEFORE the GBON announced that EC grads could now test for Georgia. There should be provisions for people in my situation. Even if these preceptorships existed, I wouldn't do it. I did the book work, passed the clinical, and passed the National licensing exam. I've worked as an LPN for over two years and I hold an RN license in two states...and still somehow I'm not good enough to be an RN in Georgia?

    Georgia Help!

I've called or written every local hospital with no luck. What hospitals in Ga even hire LPNs? The last email I got from the GBON stated there "might be a place in Griffin". The board of nursing doesn't even know!

Thanks for the advice. I went up to NC and got a job yesterday and I think my husband is considering moving up there in a few months. I think I'm just through with Georgia.

GA LPN's only and Excelsoir College

Good luck on whatever you choose! I'm an Excelsior ADN grad in Georgia and I, just yesterday, got an RN job in North Carolina. I found the the preceptorship might be more difficult to accomplish than just getting a year of experience out of state. I've phoned or emailed ALL of the Atlanta area hospitals and NONE of them do any sort of program for non-traditional students. Excelsior explained to me that graduates are no longer under the school's insurance. I'm certain at this point in my search, that there is NO preceptorship. Maybe the GBON will put something together for grads in the future. If you want to continue with Excelsior and you HAVE to live in Georgia you can always commute to another state or get a job with the VA for a year, then endorse into Georgia. Good luck! If I had to do the ADN program over again, I would NOT go through Excelsior. It's an awesome program, but not for Georgia residents.

    Georgia Help!

The GBON website seems to be asking for acute-care experience of one year. I don't have any hospital experience, so I may have difficulty finding a hospital job. And the GBON aren'y really "denying" me, but they haven't touched my application since august despite phone calls and e-mails. I applied for endorsement on advice from EC. If I had ignored that advice and tested directly for Georgia I would have been an RN here months ago. I guess I'm just a bit confused as to what to do. Getting a job in a state that's 2+ hours away seems silly and the VA that's within driving distance from me hasn't had an open position in months. I'm worried that if I spend this next year commuting to another state, Georgia could still tell me "no" in the end.

    Georgia Help!

Okay, so Georgia is denying my application for endorsement from MN, so I went ahead and got an RN license in a neighboring state. I'm supposed to be going on a grand job hunt tomorrow and my husband is NOT HAPPY at all about this whole situation. It would help if we actually LIVED near a neighboring state. So, here is my question. Can I retake the NCLEX if I already have an RN license? I've been searching all over the internet about this and have found nothing. Please help. Thank you.

License by Endorsement in GA, How long did it take?

I passed the NCLEX the June 29th. I had my application in the mail to Georgia within a day or two.

License by Endorsement in GA, How long did it take?

Thanks. I've applied to the VA and I've applied to the North Carolina BON. I was told by Georgia that I could endorse with 1800 hours of RN experience...or do that preceptorship. I really don't expect Georgia to do anything more with my application.

    GA endorsement

I have a letter from EC stating that hospitals are not participating in this preceptorship because we are grads and are not covered under the school's insurance anymore. I think If you work in an acute care facility, you can do your hours there though.
