    Simmons College FNP September 2014

I was told it was because I'd had low science grades in the past, granted that was my first attempts at college 20 years ago. I guess they didn't look as close to my more recent grades as closely.

    Drexel Fall 2014

How long did it take for you to hear back? I applied to the FNP program and haven't heard anything yet. It's one of the two programs I have completed applications to and it might be the only one I can afford as it's cheaper than my first choice. I...

    Simmons College FNP September 2014

I just found out that the bio bridge course isn't covered by financial aid, meaning federal student aid. For me that means it would be completely out of pocket, which the financial aid office said would be $614 a month for 3 months if I do the paymen...

    Nursing@Simmons Science Pre-reqs

I'll be taking the bio course in September, just as soon as I pay the enrollment fee. I couldn't come up with it for the May start. And, my employer has done away with assistance for nurses in grad school unless you go to the one they are doing with ...

    Simmons May 2014

I've been accepted to the May cohort, taking the bridge class. But I most likely will be changing to September due to the enrollment fee. I'm going to try to get the money together, but it's doubtful when my payday is the due date.

I don't think I'll be able to take it next month as I can't yet pay the enrollment fee

    Simmons College FNP September 2014

I was accepted to the May cohort, but I'm changing to the September cohort due to financial issues this month. I'm going to do part time as I have to work full time

I have to take the bridge biology course too, a bit miffed honestly. But, hey I figure an easy way to get used to the platform before the hard stuff. Of course for me my problem will be coughing up that enrollment fee

Just found out that I was accepted to the May cohort, but due my not being able to cough up the enrollment fee I'm changing to the September cohort. I have to take a biology bridge course though.

Might be the May cohort, I wonder how many applications they're going through? And if that would push a qualified application to the September cohort

I had started to reach out to some long shots for recommendations as one no longer worked with me. He emailed me back when I let him know that and said my recommendation had to be in by end of business yesterday because reviews I guess start Monday

I thought so too, but my admissions rep kept at me for that last recommendation. Hard to keep bugging the manager I had asked when I saw her at work and knew how bad a night was going (6 Rapids in 3 hours for example)

Ok, found out yesterday that the recommendation I had been waiting for is in. Now need to decide, go for the May cohort or wait until September. I'd like to apply for a scholarship through my board of nursing, but can't until accepted

I've had to move my application to the September cohort due to my last recommender being too busy to do it. I'm now reaching out to a former manager
  18. I'm trying to decide on whether or not to apply to my employers graduate assistance program. The only reason I wouldn't is because only certain schools are on their list of schools that they have agreements with. I met with someone yesterday who co...

    Letters of recommendation

How hard was it for everyone to get their letter's of recommendation? I have one former faculty doing some, but getting one from managers is like pulling teeth. Though one school I'm applying to wants one from a NP that I have shadowed. This last ...

Advocacy: Kentucky Gov. Signs Law allowing APRNs to prescribe independently

According to the KCNPNM the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives, they support this bill as a step forward. Little steps at a time is my guess. From what I gather they are very active in our State Capital, especially since m...

Advocacy: Kentucky Gov. Signs Law allowing APRNs to prescribe independently

Placards are not the permanent license plate. Right now only Dr's can sign for the permanent plate.

Advocacy: Kentucky Gov. Signs Law allowing APRNs to prescribe independently

There is currently a bill that passed the transportation cabinet to allow NP to sign for handicap plates, not just the placards. So they are slowly moving forward. Still can't sign death certificates.

    Letters of recommendation

I don't have all my recommendations yet. I'm getting one supervisor, one former professor, and my employer is seeing about helping me shadow a NP so hopefully I can get a recommendation from that person.
