It all depends on where you live, how hard you want to work, and what type of practice you are in. My main job is with a private group in Cincinnati (not a bad city but definitely would not put it in the highly desirable bracket) My malpractice is co...
If your doing it for the money...don't do it...its a very stressfull job, most work 40+ hours, and there's a lot of political BS between CRNAS and MDAS

Hi Missy...I really do not know how the alternate system works. I can ask someone (the guy that sits next to me was an alternate) tommorrow to see if he knows. Good luck ..I hope you make it.

I actually took the GRE for my accel BSN program...trust me...it is a hoop you must jump through as part of the admission requirements at some Universities that CRNA schools are associated with....it has no bearing on how well you will do in anesthes...

I'm in my second year in the Kaiser program. This program was my top choice when I was applying and now that I am nearing the end I can say that I have not been disappointed with my training. The program is ranked high for a reason...John Nagelhout.....
Just found out today I am in at Kaiser/CSUF for Fall 08. Any others on this board that will begin Sept 08? Congrats to everyone getting ready to start school.
Kaiser is a great program for several reasons but number one is amount and variety of cases you will get. I'm finishing up my first year and am on track to have over 1500 cases by graduation - And these are not shared cases with residents...its all y...
I'm getting close to finishing my first year of anesthesia school and I have wife and 2 boys (3 and 5). Anesthesia is hard but not like some make it out to be. If you use your time wisely, and make a commitment to spending quality time with your fami...

OK so...$645 is .0043% of the avg CRNA yearly salary....most make more than that in a day. I'm an SRNA with $0 income and I probably spend that much on coffee in a year...I have to agree with Mr. Zwerling...The AANA is a great advocate for our profes...
When I first began to seek shadowing experiences I too was turned down over the phone. Next I went to the hospital and asked to speak with someone in the anesthesia department. Once you are face to face with someone and they see how serious you are ...
GRE 1200 (which my anesthesia school did not require..it was an accel BSN requirement though) BSN 4.0 Prior BS in OT 3.6 1 year SICU @ Level 1 BLS, ACLS, PALS
I would highly recommend the Accel-BSN route...MOST CRNA programs consider it a good indicator of your ability to digest a lot of info in a short time....Just keep your grades up from the beginning. I was in your shoes 3 years ago and now I have 18 m...
If you want to be as competitive as possible...I would go to a Level 1. Out of the 36 in my program I would guess there are 5 who were at smaller community hospitals...and they have several years of experience there. If you're willing to move out of ...
Type of ICU really doesn't matter...just work with sick people who are on vasoactive drips and have some central lines, and learn to be vigilant in your observation and anticipation skills. Those are about the only "ICU" things that will help you in ...

I worked at UCLA in the SICU/Liver transplant and many nurses there have their NP from UCLA. I don't know much about the application process...but I don't know of any who applied to the program and did not get in.
OK...Not trying to argue here...just asking for rationales b/c I've never heard of doing this and still don't see the benefit of reversing...but let me explain my point again. First you said: "i have yet to see any real tachycardia from giving the n...
Wow..beta blockers before interview?? wait till clinicals start and you have someone breathing down your neck on induction as you're pushing your drugs asking "so by what mechanism does etomidate cause myoclonia and cortisol suppression???..and all y...
I guess my question is...if a pt is stable..why "reverse them within the first hour" when the longest the intermediate/long acting NMBDs last is 60-90 minutes...what is the advantage of reversing compared to to just letting the drug be metabolized/el...
Hi Putu2sleep..just curious what you meant by doing your "own reversals from anesthesia"?? Reversing at the end of a case as the pt wakes up in order to extubate is usually done in the OR...if necessary...sometimes if the pt has 4/4 or 5 sec of susta...
They'll ask you about leadership roles you've held, research you've done, acuity/type of your nursing experience (they may ask you something clinically relevant to whatever your experience was..that's usually as far as the clinical questions will go)...
Hi, I'm in the Kaiser program and I believe the letters were going out this week. As far as getting in to the program I would say your GPA is good..although 3.8 is probably the average (of those I know of in my class), experience sounds good but they...
