  1. I love it and find it great for organizing my information which really helps with studying for exams etc. Once you get used to it it's actually VERY user friendly and easy to format through. The more I play with it the more I'm in love with it. Enj...
  2. 17 August 2009 - the big day for some of us :)

Good luck you guys! You're gonna do great :) Remember ... keep that positive mental attitude -- it'll take you very far :)
  3. Drams to mL ... how?

yeah - i thought it was too good to be true in class yesterday. thanks so much for the help. i found another thing on this site searching around after i posted (love this site as a resource) that said 30 monkeys laughed at 1 old zebra 8 dozen roses...
  4. Drams to mL ... how?

Can someone help me with how to convert drams to mL? I was in a medmath brush up course yesterday and we discussed this. In class she said that Dram i = 4 mL Dram i = 5 mL ... you choose whether you use 4 or 5 depending on what divides in evenly. ...
  5. Today's a Big Day

It's not graduation - quite the opposite actually. Today is my FIRST day officially in nursing school. Lecture starts at 8am and my friend and I are meeting early for coffee in the Student Lounge before hand. My hubby and kids are so excited for m...
  6. Anyone have ultrascope?

Do you love it? Do you hate it? Yes or no, please tell me why. Thanks so much for your input :typing
  7. Rolling Backpacks

I got mine at Target for $35 and it's very durable and spacious. Walmart had some similar ones as well for a comparable price. The key is to go to the computer bag section -- not the backpack/luggage section. There will be a space inside for a lap...
  8. Today's a Big Day

Okay - so I revisited this thread to remind myself how excited I was at the beginning of the summer semester and I have to say that nursing_student_19 was right ... I'm just as excited at the beginning of this semester as I was back then. To all th...
  9. Liability Insurance for Student Nurses

Same exact situation here. Definitely check into it :)
  10. Anyone have ultrascope?

Thanks for your replies :) I got it for the same reason as most of you ... frustrated trying to hear with my Littman. I can't wait for it to come in the mail so I can eavesdrop on my neighbors phone calls (that was funny!) Thanks y'all
  11. Anyone have ultrascope?

    bump ... anyone?
  12. I'm glad I stumbled across this post - this looks like a program that would benefit me and I'd never heard of it before now :) Thanks everyone for the information! ... another reason why I love this group :)
  13. Random Thoughts: From a Nursing Student

How is it that every time I turn around I have to shell out more money? .... it'll be worth it in the end but dang - my wallet hurts.
  14. Test without any use?

Now that I think about it -- this poster may be onto something because that's around what we had to pay for our ATI testing materials for the course. Hope you're able to solve your mystery. I'm curious to the large pricetag.
  15. College courses while in lpn courses(can it be done)

Have you taken into account the hours you'll have to dedicate to studying for the LPN course as well as these college courses you're thinking of taking? Not to mention when it comes time for clinicals and your schedule adjusts for them. I would sug...
  16. What is the schedule like in nursing school?

I think the schedule varies by school. In our program we have the summer off - though many use that as an opportunity to get in the extra class or two that they need or to work externship. Good luck with your application. You should be able to fin...
  17. Background checks, military discharge, etc

I would give full disclosure to cover your back. When you submit your application you also sign that you've answered everything to the best of your knowledge -- not a good foot to get started on if you're not being forthcoming. Especially with the c...
  18. help with teas exam

Beef up on your science and math. That's the best suggestion I could make for you. Good luck. I didn't think it was too bad. I worried more than necessary. If you have time they sell study guides for them - I found one on ebay for pretty cheap.
  19. Test without any use?

I think I paid $40 to take the test at my school. My school uses it as a requirement before even being able to submit an application to the program as they use the ranking as another way to screen through the applicants. $266?!?!? I agree with the ...
  20. I am just finishing my first round of courses so I'm REALLY new to all this. Right now however I would say the worst parts would be the adjustment to coursework like you've never seen before and the lack of sleep and frustration that comes with it. ...
  21. Dear Incoming Class of Nurses

THank you for the original post and for the most recent bumps to the top. I just started nursing school this past Monday and this really struck close to home. It is exciting just starting out and this letter made me realize that the students aren't...
  22. I agree with the pp. True love would understand your need for self fulfillment and achieving your dream of nursing. I'm not judging on the dancing however if you continue with your schooling and get your degree, your choice of career is a much more...
  23. Orientation. Have questions, need answers..

2 days? Wow - ours was 2 hours. Any chance of bending the ear of a student that's already in the nursing program? Or try talking to another person at student services and asking the specific questions you've listed here. I'm surprised they're kee...
  24. Any One Starting NS This Summer? Shout Out!

I start on May 18th and plan to graduate after the Spring of 2011. After plugging away at prerequisites and supplemental classes I can't believe it's finally here! Good luck to everyone :hpygrp:
  25. HIV + Nurses

If proper precautions are taken I don't see why it should be a bad idea. I think it would be discriminatory to not offer them the opportunities if they proved themselves capable ... just like the rest of us. Interesting topic though.
