Today's a Big Day

Published

It's not graduation - quite the opposite actually. Today is my FIRST day officially in nursing school. Lecture starts at 8am and my friend and I are meeting early for coffee in the Student Lounge before hand. My hubby and kids are so excited for me because they've seen how hard I've worked to get to this point. I can't believe it's finally here. All my other classes toward my degree are done so I'm just focusing on the nursing skills courses for the next two years. If this is how I feel on the first day of class - what's graduation going to feel like? Thanks for letting me explode with excitement on here. Have a great day everyone.

:hpygrp:

PS My buddy and I are taking a picture of ourselves this morning all excited and looking awake/alive to compare it to us later. The senior students have told us this is actually a great keepsake for later down the road. I know they're right, it'll be hard ... but it sure as heck won't be impossible. In my eyes, anything worth having is worth fighting for.

good luck on your first day!!

:ancong!: on your first day !!!! I remember that feeling and to be honest you'll have that feeling at the beggining and end of every single nursing course. Currently, I 'm 9 weeks away from pinning but I'm still excited about nursing school... I'm burnt out yes but still excited that each beggining of another class puts me one step closer to my goal. Last class starts May 28 th and I'm so excited !

Okay - so I revisited this thread to remind myself how excited I was at the beginning of the summer semester and I have to say that nursing_student_19 was right ... I'm just as excited at the beginning of this semester as I was back then.

To all the new students getting ready to start out I finally have a piece of advice to give. Though I'm still a newbie myself I'm learning the valuable lesson of taking things one step at a time. If you don't, it can seem very overwhelming. What's the old saying? How do you eat an elephant ... one bite at a time. It's so true!

So next Thursday I'm hitting the books again and I'm soooo excited.

i cannot wait for my first day!..i am actually applying to my school's nursing program august 31..i cannot believe how excited i am just to apply lol!..each day my excitement grows!..if i get accepted i will be starting beginning of january!..and judging from my excitement just to apply, im sure i will explode with excitement for my first day lol!..

Thanks NatsFan! I start nursing school in December and I am both excited and nervous. Thanks for your valuable piece of advice:)

Can't wait till my big day...Sep 8th!! i couldn't help it and emailed my N101 teacher this morning to get an idea of the first few chapters to read. She sent them my way but referred to me as an "over achiever" and said that i should really be enjoying the next couple of weeks. Aaahh! Hope I did not start off on the wrong foot with her.

Best of luck!

What a cute post! I was like that last semester when I started, also. Now, I'm kind of dreading it, even though I kicked a%* this spring. I tend to get all freaked out and then later look back and wonder what I thought was going to be so hard. I am still pretty excited to be starting clinicals, though. I also e-mailed my clinical professor because her reading assignments for one of our texts are all weird - they start and stop in weird places, in areas that it doesn't appear we will cover in class at all. I haven't heard back from her, though. Yes, I'm an overachiever, too (and proud)!

Oh yeah...me and my friend took pictures together on the first day, also, so we can remember the day when we started. :wink2:

I hope your first day went well!! :) I can't wait for mine.
