    Arthritis and Bedside Nursing?

Hi RNPERDIEM, I am a nurse at 55 yo, it took me 11yrs 2 months to get RN BSN. I received RN at 50 yo and BSN at 53 yo. I also have bilateral dorsal pedal arthritis with cysts. I am currently a veritable private duty nurse with a company call Aveanna, they are nation wide. Though the are a pediatric healthcare agency, they do have young adult/adult clients. I work with trached and vented pts, so I still use my nursing skills but also get many chances to get off my feet. The pay is not as good as hospitals but benefit are competitive to hospitals. This may be an option for you. Good luck with everything.
  2. Hi all, I am a variable private duty RN BSN whom has bilateral dorsal pedal arthritis with cysts. Looking to the future, when I can no longer perform direct care, I would like to be a remote CCM who directs pts to different services they are entitled to. So I guess I would be working with/for a company that gets referrals from hospitals. I have 2 clients that had fallen through the cracks, both seen at world renown children's hospitals. One client, w/ MD, just found out 5 yrs ago they were entitled to nursing, he's almost 40 yo. My other client's mom stated she found out they were entitled to services "because she asked the right question". This is something I could not fathom and decided right there that I was going to be a CCM. A remote/independent CCM, that hospitals refer pts to, so I can help facilitate/direct them to all the services available to them. My question is,.... are there companies out there that may fit what I'm looking for? if yes I would love to know company's name. Thanks

How to become an independent CCM

Hi all, I am a RN with a BSN, I received my RN at the ripe age of 50 and my BSN at 53. Over the last couple of years I have developed bilateral dorsal pedal arthritis with cysts. I am looking forward to the future of not being able to do direct care and making a career change. My passion is to ensure that pts receive nursing, equipment ect that they are entitled to. Currently I work with 2 clients that are seen at major world renown hospitals in our area. As voiced by family, they were unaware and not told of the services available to them. I am looking to become a remote independent CCM with a company that hospitals refer pts to, any suggestions ? Gaylebreeze
