Why did CMS totally ignore the work of LPNs and say their contributions were not worthy of even a mention in the new staffing mandates for LTC?

do you really think LTC is going to hire all RNs? Never they will close units first esp since RNs refuse to work LTC floors!

If you report to your supervisor and report off to another nurse they send take your place there is no problem.

Your an RN and now supervisor no offense but this 1 thing wrong no nurse with supervisor experience. LTC loves inexperienced RNs that can join their corporate team and boss the LPNs around! Long term care sucks just ask the overworked LPN.

There are plenty of worthless office RNs in nursing homes. They never work or help on the floor they just come to tell you to work harder and take on more pts.Screw that nursing sucks and I do not recommend it to young people.

Why is it every job I work an RN gets weeks of training with a another RN, but a LPN gets zero orientation and no respect. This is one reason I personally went to travel nursing!

How is it nursing homes get by with using LPNs on units with med Surg post op pts those pts need RNs. Most are not IV certified? I personally have refused to work those units as a travel LPN. The ratios are to high usually 1-15. Not worth the risk!

This is the trouble with so many new grad RNs I meet they have no idea what a nurse really does or they donnot even want to touch a pt. they are shocked when they get disrespect and given a unmanageable pt load! Just like all other nurses.

I am answering my own question, you can tell mànagers and *** and moan but they do nothing because they work for corporate and they the corporation just cares about more profits. And you can churn out as many RNs as possible but they will never stay ...

Why do some RNs come to LTC and then start *** and moaning about the LPNs. The LPNs do it all there!

This is what you can do about it take your damn RN *** to the hospital and stop whining about the hard working nurses in LTC.

Where in the world are they ever going to get enough RNs to do the floor work in LTC. They simple are not interested in caring for these people no prestige in it. So leave the LPNs alone around here they can work at the hospital too!
