  1. Short Journey

Thanks for sharing - I have hirschsprung's disease, and I was lucky enough to have made it through the corrective procedure when I was 3. Now I'm 25 and going strong! I can only imagine the struggles my parents went through.
  2. Let the waiting begin

After years of mental back-and-forth, two unrelated (and frustratingly useless) degrees, and a semester of pre-reqs, I have FINALLY applied to nursing school! Two different programs in Colorado, both accelerated BSN's....one program is much cheaper ...
  3. Let the waiting begin

Thanks, everyone, for the positive vibes! I still have about 2-4 weeks until I know if I got into either school, but I did get an interview with one of the programs (the other program doesn't do interviews) - so that was awesome news! Interview is o...
  4. Hi - I am a 25 year old GI patient (and pre-nursing student!) w/ Hirschsprung's Disease, pull-through correction in 1988. I've had little to no issues since the correction, but over the past 3 months my docs (PCP, GI, even cardiologist - I have Tetr...
  5. Your desired specialty

Anything peds, probably pediatric oncology, and then eventually Forensic/SANE/Legal Consultant Nursing.
  6. Regis- Interview process?

I also got the interview email! I think Rmed has some great tips. I am curious - when did you apply to CU? Only asking because I applied at the same time as Regis but haven't heard anything yet - I assumed 6-8 weeks for an answer? Good luck to you ...
  7. Request info on Forensic and SANE-A

Also - check out publications by Virginia Lynch...she's pretty much the pioneer of this field. This is a great book: http://www.amazon.com/Forensic-Nursing-Virginia-Lynch-FAAFS/dp/0323028268
  8. Request info on Forensic and SANE-A

I have a Masters in Forensic Science, and after having a terrible time trying to break into the industry (despite several years of unpaid internship experience), I'm now going on for my BSN. I'm considering becoming a Legal Nurse Consultant, which i...
  9. Finally!!!

I've been a member on this site for years, and have posted the same message again and again, "I think I'm going to apply to nursing school..."...but never actually did it. Life got in the way I suppose - moved several times, got married, and other e...
  10. Has masters and pre reqs....

The above response is exactly the pro/con list I sorted through when making my decision -- I, too, have a masters degree, and being a newlywed, I really thought the "saving money" route was the way to go. But after realizing that I didn't have 2 yea...
  11. nursing admission essay help...edit??

Jen - I truly hope a school wouldn't hold your valuable experience against you, or anyone for that matter. I'll be applying to two accelerated BSN programs this summer, and I have a bachelors + a masters. I am currently unemployed (laid off Septemb...
  12. Finally!!!

Thanks, everyone! And good luck, mzchas!
  13. Just a side note - check to make sure the nursing programs you'll be applying to don't require a lab component...many schools won't accept online A&P classes. Something to keep in mind. Good luck!
  14. Safe areas to live in/near Denver Regis?

Hi There - I recommend Westminster or Broomfield - I have lived in both. Those are safe areas pretty close to Regis. (I'm considering attending Regis within the next year or two for nursing and the commute was certainly a nice bonus!) I think Thorn...
  15. Front Range Westminster ADN

Hi Peeker19 - Thanks for the reply. I'm glad you're enjoying the program, I must say that I'm pretty jealous! ;-) It's a bummer for me that it's a full time program, looks like I might end up having to shell out $40,000 for Regis if it means being ...
  16. Front Range Westminster ADN

Is anyone familiar with the Front Range Community College ADN program at the Westminster campus? I am going to be starting my nursing pre-reqs in January and am debating between going for my BSN or my ADN. I already have a BA and an MS, so I'm lean...
  17. UCHSC Pre-reqs

Hi all -- I have some questions, as I've found the UCHSC website to be a little confusing. a) does UCHSC accept pre-reqs taken from a community college? I have a bachelors and masters already, but still need to take pre-reqs minus statistics. i liv...
  18. UCHSC Traditional, Spring 2009

Hi all, I am looking at applying to UCHSC for a second degree BSN -- I'm hoping to start Jan 2010. Is there a wait list for this program?? Thanks, Kim
  19. Certificate vs. SANE vs. RN

Hi all I am a soon-to-be graduate student at University of colorado @ Colorado springs. I will be getting my masters in Forensic science, as well as a certificate in forensic nursing (12 credits by itself). My question is...what is the difference i...
  20. Certificate vs. SANE vs. RN

I'm slow, I guess forensic nursing would imply having a nursing degree huh? hehehe. The good thing about my program at UCCS is that it's housed in their nursing school...so what I'm thinking about doing is, when I start this fall on my masters, app...
  21. Any recommended forensic reading material?

Any material from/by Virginia Lynch is the way to go. I am starting on my masters in forensic science with a certificate in forensic nursing this fall at CU Colorado Springs. From what I understand, Virginia is based at that school -- I'm so excited...
  22. Thinking about Ped. Onc.

Hello everyone! I am currently an undergraduate student at The University of Denver. I will be graduating summer of 2007 with a BA in Molec. Bio, minors in Chem. and leadership. I will be applying for a 1-year accel. BSN program at Denver's Regis Uni...
  23. ADN vs BSN...HELP!!!

Alright...I'm having a serious dilemma here. I'm a senior at the University of Denver and will be graduating next spring with a BA in Molecular Biology. I'm DETERMINED to go to nursing school, but have NO CLUE what the best route is for me. The a...
  24. metro state acc BSN program

Hah I had no idea Metro offers an accelerated BSN! I just found out today that the community college system in colorado is now offering an ADN rather than just a nurses aide cert....it's about dang time....this state, and everywhere else, needs to o...
  25. ADN vs BSN...HELP!!!

That's what I thought....but do institutions look down on you as far as hiring if you have your ADN vs BSN? I don't want to sound snotty....and I suppose that's why I'm scared to go for the ADN...after four years at a private $40,000/year school, it...
