  1. PSW blues

I just want to be honest and vent out my feelings. I like working in health care. But being a PSW sometimes becomes too personal for me. It is like I feel like a slave most of the time. It is degrading. I don't like it. I wish there are other ways on...
  2. PSW blues

I don't understand why they keep on saying that there is a "Nursing Shortage." There's hardly any stable hours.

  9. Mandating/Abandoning Clients in Ontario

Actually this is a serious topic. I learned this the hard way.
  10. How many of you nurses don't have health insurance?

^ I need coverage for my medications. Unless I can afford my own medications, then there is no need.
  11. Nursing Officers in the Canadian Forces

I am interested in working as a reserve. But I had a bad impression with the Canadian Forces. When they say something, they don't mean it or they take you somewhere else.
  12. I got dismissed because of unprofessionalism. I was being too friendly with my fellow caregivers and clients. I was sharing personal stuff. Didn't know it was bad.
  13. Nurses in the Canadian military elite unit?

I researched about this. I believe even as a reserve, you will still have to move especially if it is required. That is just how the military life works. If you like moving from place to place and you have no husband or kids it is a good job. Good lu...
  14. How many of you nurses don't have health insurance?

As far as I know, insurance can be a great help in reducing risks. You are also right about the company benefits. I hope someday when I get my certificates done I get to work at a company with lots of benefits.
  15. PSW blues

Yes. I just need to raise money for my part time education. I am looking for full time work but my skills only fit with being a PSW/Caregiver. I just don't think anyone is worth that kind of treatment especially in a minimum wage job.

  17. Shift Envy

Hi, I just want to share my experience as a PSW here in Canada. Some of the other caregivers/PSW always tend to get "too personal" and ask things like "How much do you get paid?" etc. and then if they found out that you are making more money than the...

  19. Shift Envy

Sometimes I do regret getting into Nursing. But, I like helping patients and I love learning how to keep the household organized (as a psw). It's the co-workers that annoy me. They are so cutthroat! Lots of crabs as well. I did a customer service ass...
  20. How do you deal with nurse cliques/"gangs" bullying?

There is always "that" one person in any health care field.
  21. Being an ugly nurse

I can relate to what you are saying. People are naturally attracted to physical looks because that is the way things are set up. I am not good looking either. I am too short to be a nurse at the hospital. I am only 5'2. There is still a lot to learn ...
  22. Failed nursing. Now what?

I thought of quitting nursing several times, but I always end up going back to it...
  23. New grad invited to Nursing Job fair, but confused

It is good to go to job fairs because you get an idea or a lead on what to do next.
