HR wants meeting or report me to BON

Yeah this is an ancient nurse tradition right next to eating the young. Find a scapegoat and blame everything on them. It’s amoral and complete BS but real as gravity

HR wants meeting or report me to BON

I don’t think there is any actual proof of anything here except for sloppy bookkeeping. How could they get a nurse who apparently co-signed to later say that she witnessed nothing? If this was diversion why did it take so long to track? If it was because of a sloppy and antiquated way of keeping track of narcortics why should we trust the results of that broken system now? I think that at least in part this is the employers way of diverting blame for not upgrading their system. Where I work if one controlled meds waste is not co-signed the nurse knows about it in a day or so and the situation is addressed. This went on for months??? How is that possible if you have reliable record keeping? If the employer doesn’t have that who really knows what happened?

    Recovery Trek options

Oh I’m hanging in my friend. I’m looking forward to being done and getting this train wreck behind me. Happier days ahead!

    Recovery Trek options

Hi all, Does anybody know what the different options for the pee test in recovery trek are? I almost always get option 3 and recently I got a different one that was way more expensive. I’m not personally worried because the only thing they will find in me is coffee and Diet Coke but my wallet hates it.

Need advice when to self refer to CA Intervention program

Yeah I’m pretty much gonna mirror what cats just said. Get competent legal counsel and listen to their advice. Ideally you will not self report or start monitoring until your surgeries are completed and you won’t need pain killers. These fools that run these programs actually have counselors (social workers) reviewing the need for prescription meds written by mds. When I heard this I said it was asinine as what would be the possible qualifications for a monitoring dolt with no qualifications to review medical necessity as issued by an md. They literally told me I had a horrible attitude and that such could get me kicked outta the program even if I otherwise complied so I shut up but the world of monitoring is insane and I very much doubt they would approve pain control for you even if it’s most needed. Take care of your medical needs and yourself and then tackle any substance abuse issues and this ferocious pig they call monitoring second. Please before you start this process know what is going to be expected of you and for how long. Be honest with yourself and decide if all this poop is worth it to stay in this profession. People make money all sorts of ways. It’s one reason so many leave this line of work. Easier, less intrusive and stressful ways to make a buck and live a happy life. Good luck and be well!!!

Missed check in with affinity with selection

Well I wish you the very best and truly hope all works out for u

Missed check in with affinity with selection

God this is obscene even by the Uber-low standards of these programs. I’m sorry. Honestly I’d find another way to make money and move on with my life. I know that’s easier said then done but is this nonsense really worth it?

    What defines addict

The only opinion that matters with respect to being addicted to anything is the person who is using. Only they can decide if they have a problem and what they are willing to do about it. All of these programs that label people are kinda useless. In fact they rarely serve the truly addicted because most of those poor folks cannot begin to comply with the rules and regulations that go with monitoring and they are quickly discarded. Monitoring has nothing to do with recovery and every thing to do with retribution and making a bunch of money for the folks in the rehab industry

    False positive urine

Hang In Tessie. I wish I had some wonderful words for you to make this better but you are living many of my worst fears. I had a pee test today and probably only got a few left but as always this false positive nightmare runs through my head. My prayers are with u!!!!

    Attn Florida IPN Nurses

I think filing for social security is a great idea for all nurses who cannot work because of this idiotic reality we all deal with. I should have filed as I was off for months. Not only does it put some money in the pockets of some needy and deserving folks but maybe the social security folks will give some scrutiny to all those checks they are writing and why

HPRP Evaluation/ what do they ask?

The “professional” evaluators will ask you whatever they can to separate you from as much of your money and any funds you can beg, borrow or steal as possible. Scum is way too nice a term for these “helping” professionals. Anyway, your case should never get to that as there is no proof you did anything from what you are saying. Put your two weeks in, admit to nothing to nobody ever and move on with life

Anyone left TNPAP before contract end?

Yeah in my state (pa) starting over seems to be the default setting for most issues

    CA Probation early release

Yay yay yay!!! Another nurse free!!! I’m haPpy for you
  16. SpankedInPittsburgh

Anyone left TNPAP before contract end?

I don’t know about where you are at but here it’s my understanding that you either complete the program or lose your ability to practice. I think this is BS and just another piece of evidence that these programs are about as voluntary as a jail sentence but I also think that’s the way it is. I truly wish you the best

Rehab? Asking for a future nurse

I wouldn’t tell those clowns anything. That’s a question they shouldn’t be able to ask nor find out about without breaking a whole pile of laws pertaining to patient confidentiality. You weren’t a nurse when you sought treatment and so long as there is no public records to access (criminal charges involuntary commitment). It’s none of anybody’s business what your confidential medical records hold. Get a lawyer and seek professional advice. However the thought of someone stuck in one of these slimy money grabbing programs for seeking help before they became a nurse is vomit inspiring

Call to action! Nurses in Monitoring Programs

Yeah I’m a lapsed Irish Catholic myself and myself have no use for religion. However there is much good in religious beliefs. That saying is one of them

Call to action! Nurses in Monitoring Programs

The founders owned slaves and thought that allowing women to vote was a horrible idea also. Unfortunately marihuana laws are constitutional as they have been challenged in the courts plenty. They are just a stupid idea. The drug war got lost a long time ago. Anyway I don't think that anybody either in one of these hideous programs or out of them is going to argue that nurses should be allowed to work impaired. There should be restrictions and monitoring for such nurses to maintain patient safety. However such folks are the vast minority of the nurses in monitoring programs. I've met exactly one nurse in my years in monitoring who was impaired at work and stealing meds. The majority are nurses who failed a pee test (weed is the usual culprit) or got a DUI without even an allegation of being impaired at work. These programs have a place and so do second chances but not as constituted
  20. SpankedInPittsburgh

Call to action! Nurses in Monitoring Programs

Who are “they”? Is it any nurse that failed a random drug screen for weed in a state it’s legal? Is it the nurse with mental health issues who may have self medicated? Is it the nurse who got a dui on an off night? Is it the nurse whose ex said she had a substance abuse problem with no proof? Is it the nurse who self admitted to a detox program to get off of sleeping meds after years of working nights with no instanced at work?

Call to action! Nurses in Monitoring Programs

Nurses are human. I think you will find the same percentage of them with human frailties as the rest of the public to include politicians, business folks, police officers .... and everyone else. We are supposed to be in the business of helping folks heal from affliction. Should that not count for our own? People make mistakes and simply throwing them away isn’t an answer especially for a profession whose cornerstone value is supposed to be compassion and caring

    Lost New NP

Hi all I’m an new np. I went to an DNP family nurse Practitioner program and was assigned to an intensive inpatient provider role. I’ll be honest I feel like I’m drowning almost all of the time and don’t feel like I’ve had much mentorship in this role. I feel miscast. I didn’t pick this role but it was assigned as my employer paid for my education and I owe them time. I’ve asked for a new posting but I feel utterly defeated and often wish I never went back to school. I’m sorry for whining like an idiot but if anyone has advice I’m listening

    Attn Florida IPN Nurses

That’s good advice. My vocational rehab folks paid for some of my early testing. Looking back it really wasn’t much but it sure helped when I had absolutely nothing and was living on turkey Franks and Mac and cheese
