not c. the halo pins only go into the bone not the brain. probably serum cleaking from the hole.
so now a or b. they almost seem simultaneous.
I'd put 2 L on n/c & reposition, while I called the doc for the chest pain.If you have a rapid response team then call them. Don't leave your patient alone though. Wait til help arrives.
I don't know the answer, but most likely I would go see the patient complaining of SOB. My thinking is this patient is obviously in distress NOW and we know SOB is never anything good. Also follows the ABCs. The patient with CP could be having indigestion, gas, heartburn something that is GI related.

Good point....
I just came across a question in Kaplan that is almost the same
" the nurse is caring for clients in the ER of an acute care facility. four clients have been admitted in the last 20 minutes. which of the following admissions should the nurse see first?
A) A client complaining of chest pain that is unrelieved by nitroglycerin
B) A client with third-degree burns to the face
C) A client with a fractured left hip
D) A client complaining of epigastric pain
And the correct answer is "B" because airway takes precedence over chest pain! So you probably got the question right:)
goodluck with your official result!!

Hi
I just took my NCLEX and still stressing over it. I had a priority question that bugged me, and I wanted to ask any fellow nurses on this thread and NCLEX takers for some help
I know we are taught ABCs when picking an answer for priority question but the question was .."Which patient in the would you see first? and the 3 answers I was stuck on were
a. Pt complaining of chest pain -----possible MI
b. Pt complaining of SOB ---- I picked this , am i wrong?!
c. Pt w/ clear dry drainage around halo traction --- I was thinking it would be CSF leaking
