Definitely no evidence of dementia or cognitive decline in that interview.   Biden stayed on topic, completed his thoughts, and used candid and sincere language. His statements made contextual sense.

The obvious contrast between the two men, in communication alone, is so stark that I wonder how any nurse can look at interviews with the two and then suggest that Biden is the one with issues which should concern us.  What kind of assessment and critical thinking is that?

Some people really need to pay more attention to Trump and less attention to what other people say that Trump said or meant or looked or sounded like when he was speaking contemporaneously. The fellow frequently seems to think in fragments with his focus bouncing always back to himself before careening off a tangential thought, belief or feeling.

Yep, nonsense questioning Biden's mental or cognitive abilities is just political propaganda.  I wouldn't be surprised if it originated in Russia.

I don't disagree that Trump tends to run off topic a lot, he rants and then goes onto some other topic. He reminds me of my kids when I listen to him. Which is good and bad. I don't mind it, as I'm used to fast paced talking and conversations that go in 100 different directions. My kids minds go faster than words can get out and to keep up with them sometimes is a challenge. When I listen and even watch Trump, I can see many of these same traits. So many wheels turning in his mind and so many thoughts and only one mouth to get all what he is thinking out.
I admit fast thinkers, come across as brass and rude and messy. It can be confusing and rough to digest. My entire household is sadly this way. It's hard with 5 people all talking and quite fast and all about different topics and oddly I watch in awww. They all answer each other and make gestures and sometimes are never even looking up from ipads or phones or tv. It seems as if none of them ever paid attention until, one makes a laugh or remark or answers.
I would not be surprised if Trump is Adhd, he has many characteristics of hyperactivity with his hand movements and constant fidgeting and outbursts.  Just a thought?

Fast thinker?

Nah. That's not what I see.  I see a man who has clearly lost verbal capacity in the past 10 years.

Trump shows us the limits of running the country like a reality TV show

Quote

Donald Trump owes his presidency in part to his reality television career. And, at times, he has run his administration like a cutthroat reality program, pitting staffers against each other, conducting regular eliminations and elevating love-to-hate-them veterans of his actual television shows — such as Omarosa Manigault Newman — to starring roles. But Tuesday night’s Republican National Convention showed that Trump still hasn’t learned that governing is different from entertaining, and that his self-interest is not the same as his country’s.

Just as Trump used “The Apprentice” franchise to burnish his image as a hard-nosed businessman, he and his team used some of the functions and trappings of his office to recast him as a man of compassion, instead of a callous jailer of children or a TV addict who spends all day tossing racist bombs on Twitter. Issuing a full pardon and conducting a naturalization ceremony in the White House might have been effective stunts if Trump was merely playing the president on a television drama. As an effort to spin his record, which ranges from warning White suburban women that Black criminals are coming for them to trying to lie away a pandemic that has killed more than 170,000 Americans, it was grotesque.

Sorry, Democrats. Trump’s convention is working.

For my friends who lean left, there was good news and bad news from the opening night of the Republican National, um, Convention — for want of a better term. I have a feeling that political conventions will be changed forever by these two weeks in 2020, but perhaps we’ll go on calling them by the old name, much as we call our pocket supercomputer-camera-video screens “phones.”

The good news for lefties was that their long-range nightmare of a Trump political dynasty took a huge hit as Donald Trump Jr. and his romantic partner Kimberly Guilfoyle delivered two of the worst speeches ever. But the near-term Democratic nightmare — four more years of Trump Sr. — feels more likely after a program that was otherwise sharp and strong....

The opening night was not just provocative. It was audacious at a time when half-measures would doom the struggling president. The GOP went straight to work on Trump’s gaping wounds.

First were the pandemic and the economic damage done. To have any chance in November, Trump must find a way around this terrible news. In multiple forms on Monday — from regular-person testimonials to cunningly edited videos — a story was spun, not entirely true (conventions never are). But it hung together and went like this: The virus didn’t simply emerge from China. It was a deliberate attack by the Chinese Communist Party against the one man on Earth willing and able to stand up to it: Trump. And Trump moved quickly to fight back with new therapies, innovative telemedicine and billions of dollars for a vaccine.

The line of the night for them likely came from former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, the daughter of Indian immigrants. “In much of the Democratic Party, it’s now fashionable to say that America is racist. That is a lie,” she said. “America is not a racist country.” And the speaker of the night was surely Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), the GOP’s only Black senator and, we saw, a force to be reckoned with....

President Trump's payroll tax plan finds little enthusiasm

President Donald Trump's plan to allow companies to defer employees' payroll taxes, one of the main components of executive orders aimed at providing Americans with additional financial aid amid the coronavirus-battered economy, kicked off on Tuesday. But few companies are opting to take part in the plan...

...   No holiday:  Mr. Trump's effort to boost take-home pay won't cut the amount of payroll taxes workers will actually owe. Rather, his executive order creates a payroll tax "holiday," allowing companies to delay the collection of payroll taxes, and artificially boost paychecks, for four months. Employees will still be on the hook for the taxes, which they'll have to begin repaying with the first paycheck of 2021. That means they would owe an additional 6.2% in taxes, until they pay back the amount they had deferred in the current tax year...

Is a bit unnerving, in this lopsided capitalist society, that corporations would demonstrate more protective concern of the worker's financial vulnerability than does the IMPOTUS.

After Trump's 'law and order' visit, Biden says he'll go to Kenosha to 'heal'

Quote

Former Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, will travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Thursday in the aftermath of the Jacob Blake shooting, two days after President Donald Trump did the same, his campaign announced Wednesday morning.

Biden is expected to meet with Jacob Blake Sr. and members of Blake’s family in Kenosha as part of the visit, according to a spokesperson for the Blake family.

On Wednesday, the former vice president was asked what he was hoping to accomplish with the trip.

“There's been overwhelming requests that I do come. Because what we want to do is we've got to heal. We've got to put things together. Bring people together. And so my purpose in going will be to do just that,” Biden told reporters after a pandemic briefing in Delaware, noting he’s in touch with elected officials in the state.

From Donald Trump’s 2016 Republican National Convention Speech

…   Together, we will lead our party back to the White House, and we will lead our country back to safety, prosperity, and peace. We will be a country of generosity and warmth. But we will also be a country of law and order.

Our convention occurs at a moment of crisis for our nation. The attacks on our police, and the terrorism of our cities, threaten our very way of life. Any politician who does not grasp this danger is not fit to lead our country.

Americans watching this address tonight have seen the recent images of violence in our streets and the chaos in our communities. Many have witnessed this violence personally; some have even been its victims I have a message for all of you: The crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon and I mean very soon come to an end...

...   I have a message to every last person threatening the peace on our streets and the safety of our police. When I take the oath of office next year, I will restore law and order to our country. Believe me, believe me. I will work with, and appoint, the best prosecutors and law enforcement officials to get the job properly done. In this race for the White House, I am the Law and Order candidate…

Even Senator Lindsey Graham acted to continue the "Stars and  Stripes". I hope the senate votes to continue funding.
