Prerequisites grades

I can only tell you MY experience. I got a B (88%) in AP, here in Cali it's just one class. But with that said I was accepted into a competitive BSN program that only accepts 30 for this fall. I received Bs in two more of my prereqs that were non sciences and everything else were As. I don't know how your program accepts people, but here they go off points. You get points for your science GPA, non science GPA, overall GPA and TEAS V score. Then they give extra points if you're a continuing student, live in the area, volunteer or work in medical, and finally if you're bilingual. Also, they penalize you for retaking classes and you're only allowed to retake 2 science classes. If you retake more you're disqualified from applying. But getting all As doesn't necessarily mean that person will get in, there are so many other factors that go into your application, @least that's how it is here. You should check with your school directly to see what their criteria is. Every program is different. But retake that class you got an F in and do better next time. You know what you need to work on and there are resources out there like tutoring. So grades do matter but they aren't everything, like I said I had 3 Bs in my prereqs the rest were As and I start the BSN program this fall. Don't get discourged and good luck to you.

It just really depends on the school you're applying too. At my school, we had people put on the wait list with 4.0s. Just ridiculously competitive. But, other schools don't seem to be this hard. I doubt you can get in with the F, but if you redo it, you may have a chance. Talk to an adviser at your school.

Like others have said, it really depends on the school. The schools that I applied to that chose people based on a lottery would probably be okay with an F if it was replaced with an A. The B in A&P I is also okay.

The school I'm going to is merit based and the point difference between an A and a B is 5 points. I got in with 85 pts and the cut off was 81. If I had gotten a B in one of my science courses, I wouldn't have gotten in.

I find note cards to be the most powerful learning/memorization tool in my orificenal.

My school uses a point system to determine entrance with the TEAS exam being weighted more than GPA.

I wouldn't retake a class to get an A. At my school, they factor in all attempts- so I'm not sure it would make that much of a difference. BUT if its going to give you peace of mind- why not? I just about lost my mind waiting for my letter.

I feel bad repeating what everyone says, but it's really going to depend on how your school decides admissions. For instance my school takes the 30 highest TEAS scores (and you need a minimum 2.5 GPA in pre reqs). So pretty much all that matters is TEAS scores. I would learn how your school decides admissions and go from there.

I failed Anat last semester too..Im planning on taking it again in the fall, but im trying my hardest to get an A. Maybe they can see what im capable of, and not let that F get in the way.

You should talk with your advisor and then do what you feel is right. And definitely don't be in a rush for any program that you choose to do. As young people, we tend to feel like we're being left behind and everyone is passing us. Don't think like that. Just have faith and believe in yourself.

It is really important that you retake the A&P II and get the A. I feel like having that B is fine. It really all depends on the school you are going to. If you are still at the beginning of your pre reqs, use this as a motivation to do better in future semesters so you don't have to worry.

It is very competitive getting into school. Yes, retake the failed course, but not the B. Then put your serious hat on and Ace every other prereq! Your only other option is to apply to wait list schools and accept that you might wait 2-3 years to get into the program. My school had almost 5 applicants for every one position, and these were all smart people, so....
