Preparation for CRNE

World Canada CRNE

Published

Hi i am presently living in the UK and is planning on sitting the CRNE in June but i was wondering if there is any one who would like to study with me maybe online. i would love some studying tips as i am an IEN.

Thanks in Advance

It is not really worth buying personally i think most of the stuff it contains is in the CNA book

The CRNE exam is based on 194 competencies that are listed on the Canadian Nurses Association website.

I can help you out with a description of the exam blueprint if you like but I think that most of that information is on the web.

I have a website for IEN's but I do not have the CRNE pages built yet but I would be willing to post some information if you like.

Thanks u can pm me with the information,

or e-mail me. You are of so much help

Sure, I'd love to have a look at that blueprint. Any help would be most appreciated. Do you need my email address or anything?

Yes i would love to have your e-mail address so that we can share study information

Hi! i was informed by an agency here in the philippines that Pinoy nurses need to take the CRNE in Canada in order to be a Canadian RN. i would to know if this exam can only be taken in Canada? also can ayone suggest a good review material. thanks. :)

Hi SHAIRN

The exam only has to be taken in Canada, but you can travel to Canada and take it.

Thats what i am doing, before you full relocate.

The CNA prep guide is what i am using and a few people has said it is the closest to the exam.

Good luck!!!

There are only three books that can help you prepare for the CRNE that I am aware of:

One has already been mentioned and that is the CRNE prep guide available on the Canadian Nurses Association website int he section on the registration exam

Here are the other two but I cannot tell you if the publisher ships overseas.

Marshal-Henty J and Bradshow, J. Mosby's Prep Guide for the Canadian RN Exam. Mosby Elsevier, 2007

Marshal-Henty J and Vernon, P. Mosby's Canadian Conprehensive Review of Nursing. Mosby Elsevier, (not sure of the year of the latest edition)

Until I get my book written these are the only sources of information specifically for the Canadian Registered Nurse Exam

Both have multiple choice and short answer practice questions. The short answer questions are due to be re-introduced to the exam in 2010.

If you search for Elsevier Canada you should be able to find the publishers website and the books are available directly from the publisher.

If the publisher does not ship overseas maybe the books are available through Amazon or something.

If you are preparing for CRNE it is important to do use CRNE prep materials as the American NCLEX will not necessarily prepare you for the CRNE there are many difference between the two exams and the entry level requirements for nursing in the US and Canada are different.

You can get Mosby & the new Lippincott CRNE shipped from Amazon.ca but they don't carry the CNA book, which is the best one. I found the CNA book was cheaper from the Universities (& many of them do ship abroad) than the CNA.
