Im going out in June to do a two day competency exam, Im four years qualified in ITU but am 50 hours shortto get a licence to do crne exam, its so frustrating. Im too short of obstetrics, paeds and physchy. Does anyone know the pass rate for the crne? I dont know where to start with the competency. Its entry level but I feel i have got very rusty at A & P etc.

Its nice to treat others how you would like to be treated and your mentor has no right to treat you like that.:bowingpur well done to you for keeping with it we admire your copurage where many would have walked out and left the course. We hope your next mentor will make up for this mean one. Keep it up we are not all like that.

Ah bless you, Im in the same boat, got a job offer 4 years in Itu behind me and cant register as im 50 hours short from when i trained, with no obs, paeds or psychie. I too am wondering if i will just be a lamb to the slaughter if i attempt the 2 day practical and 1 day writen i now need to do. Concidering English nursing is ment to be one of the best how come we are not good enough for most other places. Keep at it and keep the dream going

Its not easy, Im 4 years qualified in ITU and have just found out that unless you qualified before 2000 you probably wont have enough theory training hours to register so start finding out now how many hours you will do and how many you need. I have now got to take a 2 day practical, theory and oral exam and the 1 day multiple choice. Best wishes

Hi I read your thread with interest, lucky you. Im trying to find some websites to give me an idea of what is in the exam as the book is very expensive. I have been triped up at the first hurdle as I dont have enough theory hours in my training although I have been qualified 4 years. Im 50 hours short, but Nova scotia want me to just pop over and take the 2 day competency exam then go back and do the CRNE. I am willing to have a go with you if you like but I have not been able to find any ideas what is in it so far. Its so frustating.

Can anyone help me? I am an RN with 4 years qualifed in ITU trying to emigrate to Nova Scotia only to be told I dont have enough theory hours when I trained, I have 450 I need 500 and have been told I need to do a practical cometency exam as well as a writen multiple choice paper. I hadnt planned on going back to Canada before I move there but it seems that is now stopping me. Can anyone tell me what the practical exam involes, If it will cost me and if there is anything I can do in the mean time this end? I dont know if post reg hours are counted as I have done a degree module too. They maybe short of nurses I bet a lot dont make it through the first hurdle they dont make it easy.

Nursing is what you make it.. It is very rewarding as long as you dont get involved in the politcs which is the worst part of my job. Im thinking the same though at the moment as im told that Canada is desperate for nurses but im finding it very had to get in as although I have been qualifed four years i dont have enough theory training hours for them:banghead: Keep at it :heartbeat
