Congrats! A former co-worker's husband went to nursing school, soon after they were married. He got a job at the same hsp, and theyhave beenfortunate enough to work opp shifts, to share child care..

Just remember though, just because your spouse says they do something one way in the hospital, that does not mean it is the correct answer on a test.
For example, we just learned about NG tubes & how to check for placement. We were told that on the floor & in the real world, auscultating while administering a syringe full of air was the way to check placement before feedings, meds, etc. (after the initial placement & X-ray). However, the book says NOT to do this & therefore on a test it is wrong. even though it is done daily in the real world.

Our book says to use a syringe full of air and auscultate for placement, as well as aspirate and check for pH. I know where I work, they don't have any of the pH checking stuff. After initial placement and x-ray it's air. I guess it depends on which book the school uses.
