I am about 2 months away from graduating my RN program. I just found out I'm pregnant (about 5 wks). I'm worried I that I won't be able to find a job being a pregnant new graduate. Does anyone have an idea of what kind of response I can expect from employers?

An employer can't ask you if you are pregnant - it's illegal. You shouldn't tell them that you are while interviewing either. It's none of their business.

Like the poster said Above, they cant ask you if you are pregnant, and you dont have to tell them but....remember that you will NOT qualify for the Federal Medical Emergency Leave Act (FMLA). You have to have been at that job for a year, and 1250 hours in that year, they will not be required to hold your job for you or pay you for time off that they do give you. Good Luck!

Congrats and CRUX said it best!!!

I would recommend getting a job as soon as possible before you start showing, however, keep in mind to double check your current healthcare insurance carrier, b/c your new one at the hospital may say your pregnancy is a pre-existing condition and not pay.

The main thing to worry about is the relationship that you will foster with your coworkers. Even if mgmt gets mad that is fine, it will be somewhat difficult dealing with coworkers that may be relieved that you are coming on board for better staff coverage to only leave in 6 months for a month or so. So if ya can deal with that and stay focussed, you should be good. And it seems a foot in the door at this point is most important. IMHO
