Pregnant, about to graduate, how to get a job?

Yikes, just found out that I am pregnant! It is blessing, I am very happy about it BUT, I am set to graduate in 7 weeks and am very concerned with getting a job 2-3 mos prego. This will have an impact on me getting a job, correct? What do I do? Do I tell them during the interveiw? Anybody ever been in this situation. Would love all of the advice that I can get. I unfortunately, can't afford to just lay back and relax for 9 months (although it sounds very nice!) It is essential that I get a job, but I am not for sure how to approach it.:uhoh21:

I think you will be fine. I would not mention your pregnancy until a job is offered. However, I doubt it makes any difference to a hospital. After all, plenty of females get pregnant every year. Good luck job hunting.

I was 3 months pregnant when I applied for a job once...I didn't tell them until after the job was mine. It is illegal to discriminate against pregnant women, so if they renigged based on that, it would be illegal.

I wouldn't worry. At 2-3 months, you won't even be showing.

Just expect to be extremely stressed as a new grad and newly pregnant (especially if this is your first). It was a bad mix for me. Make sure you get all your coping mechanisms in place and that they are healthy ones. At least you won't be in your first trimester when starting your new job!!

Please update us on how it goes. And remember, you won't have FMLA or whatever so time off when baby comes needs to be addressed soon after you accept the job, or before, if it is VERY important to you.

I was in your shoes when I graduated nursing school 6 yrs. ago. When I graduated I was 4 months pregnant and when I went to job interviews (only went to two) I felt like I was hiding something by not telling them I was pregnant.

Then, when I got my job at the nursing homeI kept quiet as long as I could because I thought they would get mad. But they found out and they didn't get mad at all.

Just because you're expecting doesn't mean you don't need money so don't feel guilty.

FMLA has nothing to do with Health insurance. It is just the governments way of securing your job while you are out on leave for your baby. It only applies to companies with 50+ employees, and only guarantees 12 weeks off from your job (and they dont have to be paid!!) and your employer will not be able to terminate you.

As long as you are in good standing (re:still employed) when you go on your leave, your health insurance will still be valid.
