Pregnant with baby #3!?! Graduate in Dec 2013! Help!

Published

Hello! I'm a 24 year old wife and mother of two (ages 2 and 3). I just found out I'm pregnant. I work part time as a server and I go to school full-time! How will I juggle all of this? My due date is on Nov 20th and that will be towards the end of my last semester. Would I be able to deliver then come back to school right away? Please share your tips and advice! Thank you! :)

We are in the same boat pretty much. I just found out too, but I don't graduate until march 2014 and baby will be due this September. I work also part time as a cashier and school full time. You should be fine, does your school have any set rules regarding being pregnant while in nursing school and how long your allowed to be out??

I had a statistics class with a girl who was due the week after class got out. she delivered the week before finals IIRC. she must have arranged something with her profs because I didn't see her again until the next semester, after summer break.

I know someone who had a baby in February 2012 during her last semester and still graduated on time in May. She stopped working completely for those 4 months and took 1week off from school after giving birth. I would talk to your school and see if you can work something out

I would suggest meeting with your instructors and coming up with a plan to fit in all your clinical hours. It's going to be a lot of work, but it's not impossible. I know a few students who have been in similar situations and they got through it. You know what to expect, it's your third child - plan accordingly.

And, congratulations! :)

Hey, I am living proof that you can have a baby in nursing school and survive! I had my daughter during the middle of our first year. I personally suggest not telling anyone you are pregnant. It shows the teachers and other students that you aren't going pull the "Oh, I can't _____, I'm pregnant".

I actually started the program 4 months pregnant and never mentioned a thing until an instructor brought it up about 2 months in. The quarter I had my daughter (easy vag delivery with no complications) I missed 2 days of clinical and 1 day of lecture. It was made clear to me that if I had a CS I would likely have to repeat the quarted due to too many days missed. I made sure that didn't happen! LOL.

All of the teachers were really great about it. For the most part. A few tried to talk me into taking the quarter off.

If you are determined it can be done! (dare I say the pregnancy/delivery/newborn phase was easier than the 10 month old I have now. Wants mommy ALL the time and is constantly trying to turn my books into confetti)

Single mom. I had a baby halfway through nursing school as well and I already had an 11 year old at home. She was due in February. So I just took off one semester and went back the following semester. It pushed my graduation date back one semester. No big deal. Lucky I did because I had an emergency csection and would've been out for a week at the least and one day out is like missing a whole month of work. There was another girl though who had her baby and was back to school in like 3 days. It's up to you. But with having the other kids and having a new one I would suggest just taking off one semester when you are due and graduating the next semester. Good luck.
