Good luck to everyone!

I agree about the need for support!

I am a grandmother starting pre-reqs for entry into the nursing program in Fall of 2006. I start this summer with Biology and Algebra. I have a BA in English but have always wanted to be a nurse - better late than never I say! Congratulations to all of you for starting down this path - scary, yes, but so exciting too!

Glad to see I'm not the only "returning" student this fall! Beth, our backgrounds are similar - I'm 30 yo with three children: DD (almost 6), DD (almost 3), DS (14 months). I have an unrelated degree (in electrical engineering) and am so excited to be returning to school. I'm also a bit nervous about being so "old" and having so much going on at home with three young children, but I know I can do it! Looking forward to getting to know all of you better over the coming months and years.

Hey guys! its Beth again, when I read all the recent responses I'm just so over whelmed with tears of joy. . . . I'ts so nice to feel such a comroderie already. This site is going to help us all through some rough times :angryfire I'm sure. . . and I know that we will be able to share lots and lots of joys too! I just feel all the support already. :p I go April 8th to talk to the head of the Nursing Program and then the 11th to talk to the school counselor about seting up my schooling. I can't wait! I'll be starting sometime in the beginning of May. I'ts nice to know I'm not nuts going back to school with 3 little kids at home. Well I better get off of this site, I got lots of financial Aid Papers to fill out. I think I need a course just to get through that! Just Kidding! :chuckle

Beth - if you're nuts to start school with three kids, I must be totally out of my mind to start at age 58! Good luck to us both and to everyone else on who has posted on this board!!!! :yelclap:

Just called to check and make certain that my financial aid papers got to the school and when I would get the information for my "final financial aid packet" I can't seem to get ahold of them though  I'm hoping that it's a lot of aid :lol2:

I'm so ready for August...looking back I would have rather started in the summer, call me crazy :p

I'm so happy to have so many people that are so supportive, outside of my family :D I think my hubby is about to burst he's already ready for me to get through it all :chuckle Anyways...better get back to looking busy at work :behindpc:

hopefully your f.a. people are better than ours. i went asked about getting aid for the summer semester... was told to fill out the form and what taxes to use, etc... filled it all out and got the email saying that my packet had been mailed to my school. called my school a couple days later and was told that it was highly unlikely that i would be able to get any aid for the summer because that money is distributed in the spring... makes no sense. :angryfire what about those that could not attend in the spring? why would they short a whole semester like that... needless to say they got an ear full and i was told that the matter would be looked into more and they would have a decision on my f.a. status by the end of this week....

hopefully you find out about yours soon. they have a may 1st deadline for the fall and i will apply for that as well... although i am not sure what i will be taking then... looks like i will only be a 1/2-3/4 time student but things can change. either way i liked it a lot more when i did not have to rely on f.a. coming through!!

Hi! My name is Jennifer and I am starting my pre-reqs this summer. Registration isn't until mid April, so I'm not sure what I'll be taking first yet. I'm meeting w/a counselor next week to get it all iorned out. I work full time, so I'll be taking my pre-reqs on nights and weekends.

I am 27 yrs old and have been married for 2 1/2 years. No kids yet. Hopefully I will be able to become an RN before I am too old to add a few little ones to the family! It's hard to justify putting off kids for my career. That's the one thing that I struggle with quite a bit, but I guess I will figure it all out in time.

Good luck to everyone with your classes this summer and fall! We can do it!

Hey guys

How is everyone? Fine I hope.

Ok lately I have been thinking about doing the ADN program or BSN. I decided to go for the BSN at the U of M. I don't have any credits or ACT scores I will start out at the community college. By going though cc I thought I wouldn't be ready to transfer until 07.( we need 33 credits to tranfer) But I have found out by looking at the summer schedule it is broken into 3 parts. 1/ First summer session ( 4weeks ) 2/8 week session. 3/ second, summer session.

I can take my math-into to alegbra, reading, writing in session one (may to june) The second week session I can take Intro to chemistry. (july to august)

See we need to pass intro to alegbra to take into to chem. So in the fall I can take biology and liberal art class. Spring take A&P 1, then the summer take A&P2. SO fall of 06 I can apply to U of M. :p

The summer session are great! I can move 50% faster doing the year and transfer.

Just had to tell some one b/c I was bummed out about how long it was going to take me to get the U of M.
