What is the hardest course you have ever taken and why?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi:) I am a new pre nursing student in my 1st semester. I was woundering what everyone's hardest subject has been. I am taking Political Science, Humanities, Algebra and Psychology and My hardest seems to be Psychology. There seems to be sooo much info to take in. Let me know what your are an why...This will help me be prepared in the future. Thanks:)

Specializes in pediatrics, geriatric, developmentally d.

i gotta go with my psych and sociology classes i dont know if it was me or the teacher (these teachers were sooooo boring) i never wrapped my head around what the teacher was saying in class i passed both classes with a C i dont know why but i absolutely loved my Anatomy, physiology, biology, microbiology and even my chemistry classes but i couldnt stand cultural anthropolgy (anthr 101 was pretty good though got an A in that class) , sociology or psychology i guess you can call me a science head

nguyency77...really? Intro to Biology was harder than A&P I and II? Those must have been some easy A&P professors even reading you had a difficult professor as far as Intro goes. At my school Intro to Bio vs A&P is akin to Elementary Algebra vs Calc.

I agree with you about Psychology! So much tedious reading. I really, really hated that class and was so relieved to finish. I've loved all of my science classes and I'm doing AP now. It's challenging, but I enjoy the subject so that helps.

Specializes in assisted living.

I thought calculus 1 & 2 were my hardest courses...before nursing school that is! Now my most difficult course has been Med/Surg 2. My brain is tired just thinking about it :-) Kind of like AP times 4!

I'm in my second semester of prereqs. I've taken various classes (like the basic history, English, etc.) including psychology and A&P 1. I'm currently in A&P 2 and Introduction to Chemistry (it's like a mix of organic, biochem, and gen). Chem isn't too hard, most of the biochem stuff is a review of what I learned in A&P 1. I can't decide if A&P 1 was harder for me than A&P 2. I think A&P 1 was harder mostly because I was trying to understand how the prof taught and figure out how to study and actually learn so much information. A&P 2 obviously still shoves loads of information down your throat, but I feel like I now know how to study for a class like this that is so information heavy. I realize now how pathetic my study skills in high school were. I wish I would have done a better job in that area before college, but I'm learning pretty quickly now.

Specializes in Pediatric Cardiology.

Organic chemistry all the way! Part because of the content, but a lot to do with my teacher. I wasn't sure if I was going to get the C+ that my program required to stay in nursing and was seriously considering a new career. Luckily the final was super easy and I passed with a B- but ugh, even thinking about that class makes me cringe.

Well I'm in my second semester of pre reqs. My first semester I took Art Appreciation (A), Public Speaking (B), Sociology (B), & English Comp 1 (B). This semster I take English Comp 2 (so far I have a C but she still has 2 essays to grade) Psychology ( I'm SHOCKED that people have a hard time in this class! I have an A. All you have to do is just read the chapter and go over the study guide and powerpoint but I guess it depends on the professor) A& P I (I have an A in the class & an A in the lab) Biology I ( I have a B in the class and an A in the lab) and I take Intermediate Algebra to prepare me for College Algebra in the fall. I have a C in there. All in all, so far it's been a little bit of a challenge but I know it's going to only get harder and more challenging from here on out. I'm ready!!!! :)

Psych class could be tough. Use examples to apply the concept. Statistics was a nerve-wracking to me. I didn't have a life when I registered for that class. It was a hard earned grade I received.

Anything Math kills me...strange because I can do calculations fine once I get the formula down. But Statistics was THE hardest class, for me, hands down, got a B. Though, I took it online, and have heard that isn't a great idea :) I've taken a few PSYC classes, and am now on A&P II, love them all. I love learning it all...sciences really interest me as does psychology, I can't get enough. If it just weren't for all that pesky math!! ;)

Are you referring to only pre-nursing courses? I just got accepted into my program and although some of my classes before this seemed hard I am cautious before I say one of my pre-nursing courses was the most difficult. If that is what you were asking then my most difficult pre-nursing course was anything not related to nursing in some way. Classes that were required to graduate and boring were always hard for me because I wasnt motivated to go...like writing and composition or humanities. Although as a pre-nursing student you want to put all your focus on your science in math classes, dont forget about the so called blow off classes. They can kill your gpa and hurt your chances of getting into your program. Good luck in your educational pursuits! :)

Chemistry I and II were killer to me. Organic chemistry was a close second, but because there is a sense of organization to organic chemistry I could handle it better.

intro to chemistry. a&p is a peice of cake compared to this course for me!
