Hey all,

I have to write a scientific paper and i'm having a problem coming up with an idea.

I have to ask a question of "Why...something..." then hypothesize, experiment, and conclusion.

Anyone out there who's creative in thought that could help me?

So far the only thing I can come up with is....

Why do people prefer to grind their own coffee then brew it over grounded coffee purchased at the store?

"Global warming: Fact or Fiction"; viruses are really interesting too. Rain Forests might be a good topic - their destruction, possible effect on the world, what is being lost or gained. description and causes of cancers. The honey-bee is a hot topic right now as they are dieing. No one knows why for sure and the loss is having a devastating effect on agriculture. Anyway, hope this helps. Wasn't sure if this was basic biology or Anatomy, Physiology. I had to write a paper on pressure sores for Anatomay/Phys I. The instructor had been a Nursing Home Administrator.

I am writing one on Probiotics. It is about how "friendly" bacteria, yeasts and even viruses, in theory, may prevent or treat disease. Looks interesting and my bio teacher also teaches micro so she would (hopefully) like the selection.

I like your idea; it seems to fit in with what is being requested. It's "measurable" (you can't experiment too much with global warming or pressure sores - I don't know how you'd design an experiment for either of those), which is what it sounds like your instructor is looking for. Sounds as though she's designing an activity to reinforce the scientific method and its applicability to more everyday living.

I buy it because I've deluded myself in thinking it tastes better (never really tested that theory), when in reality it's probably a control thing.

Thank you all for your advice! I think i'm going to stay with the coffee thing..lol. It's easy and hopefully not too much research to be done. I figure if someone from her last semester class did a scientific paper on her dog eating poop and got an A.....then coffee should be acceptable...LOL.

I can't believe that student got an A on writing about poop....ewwwwwww....lol.
