Saying Hello

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

I just joined the forum and I thought I would introduce myself.

I am a married mom of 3, who is now a SAHM to my youngest who is 4. I am going to school at night to finish my pre-reqs. I left my math till the end so that is what I am working on now with my A&P I and II, but I can't take that till I have done my math. I am currently taking Microbiology and a Math review course. I am going for my BSN. I am enjoying school so far and have now come to realize that I have to burn the midnight oil to get some real studying done. Before I didn't because the classes weren't so hard, but now I have to. I hope I get to know everyone.

Hi Erika!!! :welcome:

Congratulations on almost being done with your classes and working towards your degree!!! I think you will find this to be a great place of support!!

My name is Lori and I am a mom of one little girl who will be 2 tomorrow (YAY). I work full-time through the day and go to school at night. I am expecting to begin my Nursing classes in the Spring. I finished all of my pre-req's this past spring.

It is hard, but it can be done - I know what you mean about burning the midnight oil!! Sometimes necessary!

Best of luck to you in your last few classes!!! And again, welcome!!!

Thanks Lori,

Congratulations to the birthday Girl! Our youngest will be 5 in December, they grow way too quick. But the plus side is she will be in Kindergarten next year and I can take day classes and be home when they come home from school.

Oh, thanks - you are right about that!! These two years have gone by so incredibly fast!! My daughter will be almost 6 when she enters Kindergarten because of her birthday. The cutoff here is September 1, so she just missed it, so we still have 4 years to go!!!

That will be great to take classes through the day!!! Looks like it is all falling into place, huh?

Welcome! I am kind of like you- SAHM to 3 kids, and we live in MD. I have done the prerequisites and am just hoping to get into a program for the spring, but it is a night program. How will you go to a BSN program? Do you have someone to watch your kids in the daytime, or will all your kids be in school by then? My youngest is 2 so I can't do any daytime classes- we can't afford to hire a babysitter. I would much rather do a BSN over an ADN, because I already have a BA degree.

Well, good luck!

Amy

By The time I get into the BSN program, which I am estimating it will be like in about 1 1/2 year All my kids will be in school, currently I the oldest 2 in school, 1st and 2nd Grade, and our youngest will be in Kindergarten next year. Aside from that we are now living with my parents because that is just cheaper and easier for us since I am not working and my mom helps out with the kids also. I Prefer the BSN, because once I get the money :) I would like to become a CNM. Where are you going to school?

Erika

I am in Montgomery County, but not in any school yet. I did most of my prereqs 15 years ago at my old college in VA and then the last class at my local CC. You are lucky to have family to help like that. If I was close to my family, I know they would help.

Oh, what's a CNM? Certified Nurse.... I can't figure it out!
