Hi ya'll! I'm new to the forum. Have been working as a medical assistant for 3 years and am ready to go for my LPN.
At 51, this is a major endeavor for me. Does anyone have suggestions for study books on the Compass and NET tests? I definately need some brushing up on math skills!
Thanks!

Welcome, and congrats on your decision! :)
I'm not sure about the Compass, but the NET has a study guide that I feel is quite helpful.
It is called The Net Study Guide. Eriworld.com sells it.
The exact website URL is: http://s40082.sites40.storefront-hosting.com/detail.aspx?ID=1
Good luck.
Hey, thanks. I hadn't thought about checking at the Tech School bookstore, either. I've seen some books listed at Barnes and Noble, but didn't know which might be the one to choose.
Best wishes to everyone out there trying to make into Nursing School!

Hi Nananurse,
I have been wondering abouth the test that I think you are talking about. One of my coworkers, (medical assistants but, I wasn't certified like she is) took a test and is now a licensed practical nurse. No coursework apparently because her clinical experience as a medical assistant counted.
Is this it? Yeah, I would like to take that test too! Although, seeing as I wasn't certified as a medical assistant, (just did the work) I don't think I would qualify to take it. Another coworker from there is interested in finding this test, (name, etc.)
Is it given by the ETS? Just like the NCLEX-RN and PN tests?
If you know any of this I would like to share it with that coworker.
Thanks,
Gennaver
p.s. Good Luck!!!

Gennaver: If you know of a test I can take to become an LPN without going to school, I'd love to know about it. Ask your co-worker!
I've applied to a technical school with an LPN program and part of the application process is to take the Compass and NET (Nurse Extrance Test) exams. If I'm accepted, it will be an 18 month course.
I'm not a certified MA because we are not required to be in AR and there is not a school close. I'm classified as MA by my work because of my experience and skills.
Believe me, at my age, if I could skip school and just take a test, I would! :rotfl:
