Is medical terminology and A&P different?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Is medical terminology in A&P or is medical terminology it's own class? Sorry for sounding stupid. Just wondering

Terminology goes over the words used in the medical field and breaks them down into parts so you can learn to basically know what a word means by taking it apart.

Anatomy/physiology are all about learning about the human body and how it works.

I'm taking both of these classes (Anatomy and Med Term) this semester.

Hope that helped!

I agree with PP. Medical terminology teaches you more about pre fix, root, and suffix of words. Anatomy the learns about the body. I took medical terminology before A & P which was helpful because my teacher liked to bring up pre fixes, etc.

Med. terminology is its own class.

Thanks everyone!

They definitely overlap but they are separate courses. I have taken both, and both helped me gain a better understanding of the human body and medical procedures and that type of thing.

lol..c'mon now..where would you get the idea that they are the same class?

Just was wondering, is there any decent and affordable online AP Anatomy physiology & Medical Terminology Courses? Once worked in the office side home health several years ago and looking at getting back into healthcare more specifically in a non-certified MA or a hospital unit secetary, and I know some of the hospitals want Medical Terminology Experience... Any help would be appreciated. Have a great day and enjoy your weekend!!!

I took an 8 week online medical terminology class thru my CC. Loved it. I bet ur CC offers it too.

Both are different courses. But Medical terminology is very helpful before any healthcare career.

Specializes in Endocrinology, hopefully.

I'm in A&P II, Micro, and Med Term this semester-- medical terminology is helpful to know going into the nursing field. And it's a breeze! I have a 99 in my online MT class!

Anatomy and physiology is the study of structure and function.

Medical terminology refers to the language/communication used in healthcare.

They're different...

Only similarity is a&p will have med terms.

A&P is where you learn not just memorize

Med terms is 100% memorize.

Nursing is application and synthesis.

Med terms is .... Very very basic yet essential.
