Who all is taking A&P 2 ? Is there going to be a club?

Ok this is what I have so far. These substances are filtered in the glomerulus water, sodium, glucose, chloride, potassium, phosphate, urea, uric acid, creatin, small hormones such as steroids, calcium, hco. thanks Lisa

Looks like you got it pretty close....as far as my book is concerned the renal corpuscle filters blood plasma without the plasma proteins..so whatever is in your blood at any given time will be filtered...water , inorganic and organic solutes (this is where the trouble is...my book only mentions the most important that you already named) the blood plasma proteins and bloodcells stay behind. Maybe look under the composition of blood and don't count the proteins and bloodcells in....this could also include vitamins, histamine, lipids, amino acids and whatever is floating around in your blood this very second :uhoh21: This just came to mind,,,,all your solutes like all your electrolytes...Magnesium, Sufur, Phosphorus and such.... and then there is billirubin and ammonium ions, too Good luck ;)

Hello,

Bit of a lurker here but was hoping someone could help me with an assignment. I need to list all the specific substances that are filtered secreted and reabsorbed in the nephron during urine formation. I want to have a complete list so I thought I ask all the Ap2 students so I can make sure I did not miss any. TIA Lisa

This is my take on it--hope it helps!

Reabsorbed:

Glucose, Amino acids, protein, vitamins, lactate, urea, uric acid, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, HCO3-, H2O--come from the PCT; H2O--come from the descending limb; Na+, Cl-, K+--come from the ascending limb; H2O, urea--from the collecting duct

Secreted:

urea, uric acid, creatine, H+, NH4+, some drugs--into the PCT; urea--into the thin portion of ascending limb; H+, K+, NH4+--into the DCT and the collecting duct

Had my lab final today and it wasnt so bad. I think i did pretty good.

I'm sure you did great! We have our 3rd lab test next Wed, Dec 6th.

It includes, more fetal pig (internal organs urinary and reproductive system)

label pictures and identify tissues of digestive system and repro system under microscope...enuff to give you a BIG headache :lol_hitti

Thank you guys for all the help with urine formation. Have a good evening. Good luck with the remainder of the semester. Lisa
