Pre-nursing GPA?

Published

I'm wondering what everyone's GPA was when they got accepted into a nursing program.. What's is the low-normal range? Mine is a 3.74 as of now...

My overall GPA was a 3.89, my science GPA was a 4.0 - good luck!

Mine was 3.4. My school was really impressed though because I sent a resume, essay & 3 recommendations so even though I didn't have a 4.0, they accepted me.

My overall GPA was around 3.6 and my prereq GPA was around 3.8. Hope that helps!

my pre-nursing grade is 2.97 and I just got accepted into the ADN program. Thats a B-.

Does anyone know if I can combine my undergrad GPA w/ my pre-req GPA? This would surely boost my overall GPA haha!

I FINALLY just got into an awesome in-state BSN program today! So excited!! I had a 3.97 or so in the prerequisites (one A- in 1-credit chemistry lab), but I only had a little over half my prereqs done - finishing up anat, micro and phsl this semester, so my average will most likely go down. My overall was ~3.98 in college, but since I took a lot of college courses in HS, my overall GPA including all post-secondary courses was more like a 3.8.

The average GPA for entry into my (awesome!!) program last year was a 3.5, so I think anything above that is pretty competitive.

It depends on the program and what part of the country you are in. I am starting a BSN program at OHSU and according to there website the average prereq GPA is 3.89, I had a 3.91. But I also wasn't accept into one of the ADN programs I applied to so who knows! A 3.74 is competitive thats what I had the first time I applied but didn't get in (probably more from lack of clinical experience and I didn't have a bachelors degree yet) but if you are applying to BSN programs it wouldn't hurt to retake a class to boost it a little. Good luck!
