I had never really thought much about the tragedy that is created when it is hurricaine season until Katrina and Rita. My father had a MI (thank goodness he had evacuated up here before that!) My aunt lost her roof, so it could have been much worse.
I hate to even watch the weather channel now and see what kind of devestation will come of this. I have been praying and hoping that it won't be the type of horrendus damage that was left after the last hurricaines.
Please keep these people in your prayers as well as the physicians and health care workers that will be caring for these injured people.
My baby brother is a police patrolman close to New Orleans and his wife is due to deliver their second baby this Thanksgiving. He is working the street and his wife has come up to North Louisiana for safety sake.
Please keep our families and friends, as well as our brother and sisters in the health care profession working during this stressful time.

My prayers to everyone. I could not even imagine living in that area. I really feel for those people. I pray that God will spare thses people from any damage from the storms. Many have gone through too much already.

My eyes are glued to the television all day watching the happenings. It just CAN'T happen to people again...it is too soon and too tragic!
You are so right!! My parents and my sil who is 7 months pregnant came up to West Monroe where I live and to Texas where my ds lives, but my db that sent his wife up here is a police officer in Thibadeux (sp) so I am worried about him. And my 84 yr. old aunt lives in south Louisiana in Bogalusa, Washington parish and she is staying there! She made it through Katrina, but please!! How many times can you push your luck?! I'm worried about her. Prayers go out to all of you that live near there or have loved ones there.

Oh, my, I know your heart is jumping out of your skin regarding your aunt (as well as your other relatives, I am sure!). How did she make it through Katrina? Did she go to the dome, or did she have to stay in a shelter afterwards? Oh, my...prayers to your aunt. Is she alone?

Prayers and good wishes on the way.
Hello -- Oh, no. She stayed at her house in Bogalusa, kind of in the north shore- it's about an hour give or take from New Orleans- during Katrina with no phone, no power, no nothing! She came out of it without a scratch! The woman has to be made of steel! My dad, who had the MI during the storm, brggrd her to come with him, but she wouldn't budge. Thankfully, dad got up here and was within about 2 minutes of the hospital where my dh works when he started having trouble. He had been in town almost 2 days when it happened. I called my dad this afternoon and again begged him to try to get her to come up here and I would meet them in Jackson, Mississippi if I needed to. Her son is 45, and just left her to go to Hammond not too far away from her but he will only be home on the weekends. She even stayed in the house until they finished the roof!
So, I'm hoping we have a houseguest soon, if I can talk her into it!

yes, my prayers are with everyone in the Gulf Coast, and OP, you are SO right about not realizing the devastation hurricanes can cause until Katrina. At the time, I was working for a large insurance carrier and I had been part of the catastrophe team for 2 years. I was deployed for the FL hurricanes in '04 and thought it wasnt so bad. I was on the ground in Kenner, LA about 3 weeks after landfall and I was literally taken aback by the amount of devastation I saw.

Hello - Thank goodness the worst is over. We only had a small amount of damage to the rose bushes in the front yard. We only lost power for a few hours last night. My doggies are still kind of freaking out.
