Prairie View School of Nursing Info

Published

Hello Everyone!

I am interested in finding out more information about Prairie View's SON, but I am having a hard time locating information. :confused:

I have been to the school website www.pvamu.edu but I cannot seem to find what I am looking for. Does anyone know if there will be a nursing school term beginning in Spring 2010? Also, any information on deadlines, application process, etc? I have basically completed all of the required pre-reqs while preparing to apply to other nursing prograims, and I would really like to apply to PVAMU SON for the Spring if it is not too late.

Any information provided is much appreciated. Thanks!:wink2:

KAYBDT6, it's not too late to at least apply since the deadline is Oct. 1st. Now we just have to cross our fingers and hope that we still have spots available. :up: Good luck to you!

Hi you guys, No there is still hope just remember to stay ontop of the admissios dept. at the main campus and once u call and verify that u are in the system send off ur request for net and transcript to CON at the same time because they will not allow u to tke the net without knowing that u are accepted into main campus. good luck

Tanx for the encouragement.:thankya::thankya:

Hello, I'm so happy to see people interested in my soon to be Alma Mater. I currently attend PV CON, and will be graduating in Dec 09. I just had to post and say that PV is the way to go. Attending the CON is such a rewarding experience. It will be alot of haaaarrrrddd work, but you will succeed and it will pay off in the end. Just remember that PV is a first come first serve campus, so it is best that you complete all of the requirements and turn in your application as soon as possible. Keep extra copies of everything that you turn in (this should be done no matter where you apply). PV may be a tad bit unorganized, but believe me there is a method to their "madness." Good luck to you and everyone else who applies. Feel free to contact me and ask me any question that you may have, and again GOOD LUCK!!!!:wink2:

PvNurse2009, thanks so much for the encouragement! It is great to hear positive things about PV CON. Although the program seems tough and rigorous, I have heard that PV prepares their students to become excellent nurses. Quite a few have mentioned the importance of being prompt and organized when applying, so I am definitely going to be on top of things. I have applied and begun the process of submitting all of the required documents, so I will wait and see how that turns out.

Since you are about to successfully complete the program, I may have a few questions for you for sure! :typing

Congratulations on your upcoming completion of the program and your future nursing career!!!

I will hopely start Spring 2010 in their LVN- BSN program. Has anyone done it before? I know that it is four semesters. Does that include summer school?

You are correct the LVN to BSN program is four semesters. Prairie View does not allow you to complete a full semester in the summer. The most you can do is cut back on your course load by taking one theory class along with the clinical component and this lasts the entire summer. Summer school is no longer like it is in the regular college program. I hope i made this understandable??? If not let me know....

I was hoping the LVN-BSN program would be finished in 18months, but I guess it would be a full 2 yrs. Are you in that program?

Yea its the full two years, and its only two years if you test out of pharm and I think patho??? Im not sure about patho, but yea LVN's have the option to test out of two classes. I'm in the "generic" BSN program, but after your first semester (as an LVN), generic students and LVN's have classes together.
