Practice Exams (Excelsior)

Published

Hello!

Can I get your input on excelsior practice exams?

On average what did you score on your practice exams and what was your actual grade on the final exam?

From what I am reading it looks like above 50s on the practice exam may indicate you are ready for the final - any thoughts?

I have never scored over 71 and i've got a and b's. the only ones where you score in the 50 range are for microbbiology or anatomy and thats high enough to pass

I have only taken health safety so far and the practice test was alot of help. Some of the questions on the practice test were on the actual test. I scored 74 and 75% on the exams and then passed the actual exam with a C.

68-70's is what I try to get before testing. Have only gotten one "C" and that was transitions and it's because I hated it and just wanted it over with lol

I've used the practice exams for almost all the courses except Transition, which was pretty risky but that God I passed. I haven't scored higher than 64% on any of the practice exams. Unfortunately I haven't seen a "B" letter grade since Microbiology. I am determined to see at least 2 more before I reach the FCCAs.

Thank you so much for the insight!!!! Truly appreciated!

The Practice exams are the BEST!!!! I reccommend them HIGHLY!!!! I also noticed that some students dont even purchase the textbooks, how has that worked? I rented them for Health Safety and didnt really use them.

I purchased the textbooks BEFORE I knew about Study Group 101. Talk about a waste of $$$. I haven't used them much at all. I guess it's okay though because I am sort of a nursing book "collector". :) Right now I'm study Health Differences Across Life Span 1 using a SG101 guide from 2013 and it's still current (except the cancer meds aren't discussed in more detail) with 2015 Excelsior's Content Outline.

I haven't taken the nursing tests yet. However, I took a bunch of psych and sociology Uexcels for my BS at Excelsior. I usually tested when I hit 65 and I got As and Bs. When I took College Writing I did it cold and got an A.

Just found out that the textbooks will come in handy for the two FCCA online courses. Purchasing them wasn't a waste of $$$ after all. The tips I've seen for Life Span 1 didn't really include cancer meds. I'm not gonna take any chances, I'll just cover the basics at least (i.e. Trade/Generic Name, Indications, Common side effects, and Nursing Implications). I may or might not be "over-kill"...I'll know soon.

I'm studyin life span1 now with sg101 and they cover the meds pretty good as they are listed for each cancer in the study guide and then there's a whole separate chart just for cancer meds in the additonal section its called review-antineoplastic drugs

Thanks for the reminder! I absolutely forgot about all the additional files. I only printed the pages covering the Cardiovascular/Hematological, Respiratory and Abnormal Cellular Growth. I think I will break out the index cards for this one!
