Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

Published

It didn't look like there was a thread for 2011 Yale GEPN applicants. Since the application recently opened, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is starting to work on their application.

Anyone else out there?

I will keep you posted! My number one choice is Columbia, but I know its super competitive so I am trying not to get my hopes up. NYU doesn't have an oncology program, but they have an adult/hoslitic NP program which I think would be great too. I am applying to FNP for Hawaii. Its unfortunate that not many schools have oncology programs, so I gotta picks second routes too. I am just hoping one of these work out, I can't even imagine going through this whole process again. Finger Crossed! Have a great holiday and let me know where you decide on!

You're doing the Hawaii app too?! I did that on a whim early on since they didn't require the GREs, but thinking about it more and more, IF extended an interview offer, that would be a very expensive little trip! :)

No email for me either. Even though Yale is definitely not my first choice, it would still have been great to be accepted! GL to all those who got interviews and to those who will eventually get in!

So, I am new to this site, but I heard about my interview status early yesterday morning. Where else are people applying/have they heard from other schools?

This message is for Eburke1122:Hey! I'm doing the peds specialty and my interview is on that date too!! Where are you coming from? Hopefully the weather won't ruin travel arrangements! Where else did you apply?

Hey!! I actually live only about 20 minutes from New Haven--but if I get in, I'm definitely getting an apartment haha! What about you?? I'm familiar with the area and where the nursing school is so let me know if you need any help.

Currently, I live in Nashville (just moved this past january from California) but I'm originally from outside of Philadelphia. I would LOVE to know more about New Haven. I looked at Yale undergrad, but I don't recall seeing the nursing campus/hospital. Where else did you apply? Is Yale your first choice?

Hey there, I have an interview for Family on the 20th. Really looking forward to meeting some of you! Any idea what to expect from the day? And the amount of people they invite to interview compared with the amount they end up admitting? Thanks!

Hi!! I know it is a whole day with a bunch of talks and lunch with some students in addition to the time you will spend with your interviewer. I know a few people who have gone to Yale so I will post once they tell me more about what to expect. I am interviewing for Peds but I am sure the format is the same!

Nikki164-Yale is my first choice and I will go if I get in! Is it yours?

Hello everyone!

I have an interview on the 28th for Women's Health. I am in NYC and was thinking about maybe renting a car and driving up if there is anyone from the city looking to go up that day a well. I know Metro North is pretty easy, but since I wasn't planning on staying overnight I thought a car might be easier than getting to Grand Central at 6:00 am and then walking to the nursing school from the station in New Haven.

I walked from the station when I went up to visit the school last spring. My friend in the program told me that in the middle of the day walking from the station would be safe. But in the morning, wearing a nice suit, and with January temps that seems way less appealing so the car rental idea just popped in my head. Thought I'd check if anyone else was interested in sharing the cost of a car to get up there?

Also, I am very curious to hear about past interview experiences if anyone has heard anything. From what I have heard, sounds like everyone has very subjective experiences, but any info is helpful!

So exciting/nerve-wracking!

For those of you with interviews on the 28th, is anyone planning to stay in the hotels near the school? If so, how are you planning to get there? Cab, walk, drive?

Currently, Yale is my 2nd choice, but it can also easily be tied for 1st with Vanderbilt's program. I am so excited to meet you, and hopefully you'll be able to tell me all I need to know about New Haven!!!

That would be great!

Hi wnabanrs! Congrats! I live in NYC so I am just going to take a train out on the 19th, and I asked to stay overnight with a current psych student if possible, Esposito said she'll try to arrange for it. I'd love to meet up when I'm there -- Interview on the 20th so my it's after yours, but if you live in New Haven and want to meet up, I am game! :):)

I'd like that!
