Portage learning

Published

I am applying to a nursing school and the refered me to portage learning online for my prerequisites. Can anybody tell me if portage learning is accredited? Has anybody taken classes from them before? Did you have any problems transfering your credits?

I really appreciate the help of anybody out there who can give me some info. Thank you!

MariaCape: That's great do you live in the upstate area? If so what is the job outlook for the area of Utica College I will most likely have to relocate to complete the program. At this point I will take a job anywhere as long as I can pay major bills like rent, car, lights. How are your classes going so far at Utica?

Hi Nicolle,

I just saw your message. No, i did not enroll. Utica is expensive and Financial aid would not cover the entire cost since I have a BS and A Masters degree. I've been looking for a school that I would be comfortable paying on my own with out loans.

I'm in Florida , Utica recently opened a campus in St Petersburg, Fl.

Hey, I'm taking the nutrition course through Portage learning now, are the exams hard? This is my first online course and I'm really nervous!

I'm wondering this, too! I just started A&P 1 through Portage Learning and I think my brain is mad at me for trying to stuff so much information into it... it took me a whole week just to get through half of the first module. I'm coming up on the module 1 exam (hopefully at the end of the week) and I just pray I've been learning all I need to to pass it. I literally have 10 pages of notes for one module.

Yeah same here for Nutrition! I'm just worried my notes aren't good enough. This is the first time I've taken a class online. You are brave though for taking A&P online!

Ha, thank you! Just doing what the circumstances require.

The practice questions haven't been so bad, though. Did you have a pre-exam on Nutrition to test your current knowledge? They had that on A&P and it all seemed quite straight forward and not too intimidating and they said you'd be proficient on the knowledge covered in the pre-exam by the time you get to the final!

Yeah I'm halfway through the first module and it's going really great. They have videos to go along with the words so I read the paragraphs, copy the notes and I leave some extra room and then I watch the video to reinforce everything... Then I write the most important things on my white board.

Took the first A&P exam on Friday, it was graded Saturday morning. It was ridiculously easy, and I got a 95%. I feel pretty confident that I'm going to pull an A in this course because bio-chem/cellular stuff has always been the hardest for me in other A&P courses I've taken. Once I get into anatomical terminology/memorization of stuff that's big enough for me to visualize, it always goes much easier.

Ok that's good to hear! I love Ethics course... It's reall straightforward. I've finished module 2 for nutrition. I want to all to soak in first!

Thank you for that feedback! That makes me feel a bit better!

Hi, can anyone tell me if portage courses transfer to Chamberlain College? I called Chamberlain college and they told me they wouldn't know if they'll accept the courses until they evaluate them.

I am taking a course with them currently. When you log into the module you can come back as many times as you need to. You can complete the questions and reread the materials as much as possible. Once you are done you close the module information it locks and open up the test. You take the exam and it unlocks the next module. I like it, it works for my busy schedule and I am actually learning a lot.
