Hello-
I need to finish 4 prerequisites to meet a Dec 1 deadline to apply for an ABSN program in Boston. I was referred to the Portage website by an admissions counselor. I have a little over 2 months to finish A&P I, A&P II, Microbio and Developmental Psych lifespan...
Curious to know how long these courses take to finish if you are not working/are free 24/7 to work on the class. I know they are self-paced but I just need an idea of approx how long it CAN take to finish...Planning on making this my full time job until so I can meet this deadline... Anyone have a similar situation??!!

Hi, I'm currently in apII with portage. I've been in it wayyyy too long but that's because I have a ton going on with regular classes and work. You can take one test per day per class. Ap II has 6 lecturer exams and 8 lab exams. I have a friend who finished it in 3 weeks. I also have to take micro and have them both finished by mid December. It definitely do able if you are motivated

It took me 5 months to complete the chemistry class. Here's what I had going on: 1. I worked full time and have a toddler; 2. I decided to take A&P 1 and 2 during the summer, so, I put chem on pause for about 11-12 weeks; 3. I wanted an A so I was spending about two weeks on each module because I'm incredibly weak in math (in retrospect, I could have spent less time on each but I was afraid of how well I understood and could apply the material); 4. I was dedicated to the material and really put effort into doing well, and this required lots of time for me on youtube making sure I understood difficult topics. I think someone who is semi-strong in math could get away with spending 3 days per module for an A. I haven't taken A&P, micro or psych through Portage but imagine they'd be easier than chem. As you mentioned you plan to make this your full-time job, it won't be too hard to accomplish and will just take dedication. Good luck!

This seems to be the most recent forum for Portage Learning.
Ive just been looking everywhere for the best reviews on the program but it’s hard to find!
I wanted to take a&p 1 & 2, and microbiology. Does anyone have tips?! How was the experience?

I took AP 1 and 2 recently. It took me about 2 months to finish both of the classes because I was trying to make the application deadlines. I really like the classes. It is definitely not easy. You have to really study and know your material in order to do well in them. Exams are short answers, sometimes essays, matching, fill in the blank and multiple choices. The lab parts are open book so you can take notes and look at the notes while you are taking the exam. Make sure you take detailed notes for the lab because I feel the questions are pretty hard and detailed. The bonus part is that you do not have to purchase textbooks and you could study literally everywhere. Even though I speeded both classes through, I feel that I learned well. I finished both classes with As. I took TEAS right away and got 90% in the science section. I also kept all the lecture notes as I feel it will come in handy in the future. I think it's really well structured and you will learn at your own pace. Good luck!

I plan to take online chem through portage. I’m honestly kind of scared and nervous. What’s everyone input? I’m taking chem 104 (gen chem II).

Hey how did you do on micro ? Just took the fourth module exam and found it very difficult. I can tell the exams get harder by each chapter but fourth module was super confusing!
