When my son was younger, a good schedule and flexibility were more important than pay rate and job satisfaction. Now he's a little older- 12- and I've been at this job for three years I've stayed here because of benefits and job satisfaction. That's one of the beauties of nursing- many of my colleagues have "job hopped" more than you'd probably get away with in other professions. We can look for jobs that meet our unique requirements, and very often find them, and there don't seem to be career repercussions for switching jobs every couple years or so.

I think it is a combo of things. Probably the most desirable are good pay, good benefits, and nice team players to work with followed closely by a good schedule for my lifestyle.

My #1 reason is the teamwork and environment. The people I work with a so fun (for the most part). We have good teamwork and we have fun at work. We all have our gripes about certian issues but they are not too major in my book and can usually be resolved. The pay and benefits are pretty good for this area and I don't want to move...I have worked at our other local hospital per diem and it was nice too but I don't want to leave where I work currently...Scheduling is ok; not great but not horrible...in a pinch, there are usually people that will help out...

I agree... but what exactly makes you satisfied with your job?
IN my opinion its the people you work with are the number one factor....

I stay because they work with my school schedule and the pay isn't too bad for around here! :)
Too bad a few of the people I work with make it really suck sometimes! :angryfire

All of the above except 6. The most important thing is the environment! A good bunch of nurses and support staff are worth soooooooooooooooooooooo much!
