Polk State College Fall 2017

Published

Decided to start a thread for Polk State College Fall 2017 nursing hopefuls! I'm hoping we can use this post to share our stats and anxiety during the application process. So, I'll go first. My name is Megan, I have a Bachelors degree from USF. My TEAS score is an 84, overall GPA 3.25, and prerequisite is 3.75. I'm actually retaking the teas to try to get a better score next month. Let you know how that goes. Hoping to hear back from some of you.

I also applied to HCC for Spring 2017, I got rejected, they said more people than usual applied. The lowest GPA they took was a 3.55 I believe unless they took people from a wait list.

They don't have a wait list. They have had a large influx of people applying to that college from the Tampa area. I also don't think they take as many students as Polk. I could be wrong though. What made me choose Polk is their NCLEX pass rate. Sure half the students don't make it through the program, but most of them pass the NCLEX. HCC did not even post their NCLEX pass rate. They only post their AS degree pass rate. With your score Gators999 you should be fine.

A friend of mine got in with a 3.52 from the alternate list, so it lowered a little, not by much. HCC would be much closer for me, but I'm excited about Polk, hopefully it works out!

I'm glad Polk State does a points system for the applicants, that way you're not solely relying on your Gpa to get you in.

Does anyone plan on working during the program? I'll probably have to quit my job and pick up a part-time somewhere because of the program schedule. I was wondering if you guys would have to accommodate work for this program.

I'll probably just keep my waitressing job and work 3-4 nights a week.

Hi everyone! I am applying next week as well. A little nervous since I applied in the Spring for HCC and didn't get in and found out about Polk... much better option for me! I am applying with 115.15 points. Not as high as many that have posted so keeping my fingers crossed! When are you all going to apply?

Hey there! I plan on applying as soon as the application becomes available lol This is my first time applying with Polk so I don't know if they ask for any extra documentation.

Does anyone know if Polk will take the most recent TEAS score or the highest score?

Same here! We have to drop off with an advisor, right? Anyone know the application fees?

Yep it's all with the advisor! I tried to apply for spring semester but I had an issue with a transcript so I wasn't able to (if anyone is using AP scores for college credit like for the pre req psychology then make sure you send in the transcript from college board). But you just sit down with an advisor and they go through your application to make sure you've included everything and they give you a receipt. I can't remember what the fee was though
