Polk State College Fall 2020 Hopefuls

Hello ? I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the fall 2020 ADN nursing program at Polk State College. I know the application period isnt open until May, but I was wondering if anyone on here was planning to apply and what your points are? Best of luck to everyone!

Do you think the acceptance pool may widen? I’d hope that’d possibly be the case.

I think there will be less applicants due to Covid. With so much uncertainty about schools in the fall some applicants may now need to stay home with their children or may be facing financial hardships due to Covid. Working part time or not at all during nursing school may no longer be an option for some. I would suggest not working during the first semester due to the course load of Nurse 1 and Pharm.

I agree. I know I have a child at a polk county school and they are talking about only going every other day when school starts back. I have a way around it but, a lot of people don’t. Also a lot of people are out of work or their spouse is and no longer can afford to go to school right now. Still study like competition is steep but, I don’t think it will be as bad.

Lower scores may be accepted it’s hard to tell. I doubt they will take anyone below the minimum requirements though.

Where have you heard every other day? I am worried about our teachers and kiddos going back in the middle of a pandemic ?

I know we will get more information on July 17, but according to the application information packet does it seem the first semester lectures will be through zoom and there might not be clinicals?

Where did you find the info packet? Also, for the Generic option did you attach any files?

It sounds like it will be this way. There may be on-campus clinicals, as the info states that some of the clinicals are on campus.
