Hello ? I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the fall 2020 ADN nursing program at Polk State College. I know the application period isnt open until May, but I was wondering if anyone on here was planning to apply and what your points are? Best of luck to everyone!
I think most of the difficulty rests in providing meaningful clinical experiences. PHSC shared that the FL BON limits the amount of simulated clinical hours in numerous allied health programs. There is a minimum threshold amount we must have with live patients. Maybe the plan is to double up on theory courses and simulations in the Fall and get live clinicals done in the Spring/Summer when things calm down. Gonna be an interesting year for sure.

Has anyone else had a nagging feeling the program might get shelved for the Fall? I applied with PHSC to counteract a delay at either program. PHSC canceled the generic RN program and reduced (36 to 20) the number of admits for the LPN Bridge. I'm praying to start in FALL...somewhere. But nothing would surprise me right now. Trying to remain positive
I doubt Polk would close for the fall. They didn’t want to even go online the end of last Spring.

I agree, their reopening plan for fall has health sciences and a few other majors in person. I have a feeling they’ll stick to sim labs and smaller class sizes for fall.

I hope that's not the case but at the same time I'm sure it'll be much tougher if they don't cancel given the circumstances
