Polk State College Fall 2020 Hopefuls

Published

Hello ? I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the fall 2020 ADN nursing program at Polk State College. I know the application period isnt open until May, but I was wondering if anyone on here was planning to apply and what your points are? Best of luck to everyone!

I agree. And there's so many ways their decisions can be impacted by COVID. Do they over-admit to ensure they have a viable class or do they under-admit to adhere to social distancing guidelines and ensure all admitted students have decent clinical experiences? Did they even have a sufficient # of applicants? If our small thread is indication of hopeful applicants, we might all get admitted ?. A 12-page thread in Fall is pretty small.

I was just thinking this as well. Looking back at past fall threads, there were A LOT more people participating so I do believe that they had few applicants. What that means in terms of admits, who knows. I’m not sure if they’ll reduce class sizes — looks like all lectures will be online. They’ll probably just have us come in for sim labs in our clinical groups, which are already small to begin with. So fingers crossed we all get in!

I'm between 128-130 for generic.

Unfortunately, Polk has still yet to receive one of my transcripts that I've now sent both electronic and paper in early May. So, I may not even get in because of that. I haven't had a response from the office since last week. They told me to send them my unofficial in the form of a pdf from the school in the meantime. That was a week ago and I haven't received an email back confirming they read it

I know of a few people who are putting off going back to school because they need to focus on their current jobs to pay bills. This might mean that less people are applying in general.

Hopefully, the difficulty in obtaining "live" help from the sending institutions may work in your favor. I can't imagine they would deny such a promising applicant if the pool is indeed small, as many of us suspect.

Have you tried reaching out to Dr. H? I had some issues with getting my AP scores in for my comp 1 credit and she helped ease my anxiety.

They are probably sending out transition responses first bc there are few apps in that category.

That’s what I figured. But OMG the anxiety this is giving me.
