PNP and Woman's Health?

I am in school now for my BSN and I am drawn to working with infants, labor and delivery and those related areas. I see that I can specialize in Pediatric nurse practitioner with a subspecialty in Woman's health. Do you think that is feasible? What are my working options?

FNP would be a better option or a PNP and then do a post-masters WHNP.

FNP would cost far less.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Oncology.

This is the consistent message I've been hearing from NPs that I know. Go for FNP first. Also helps with job security.

Specializes in IMCU, Oncology.

Not trying to hijack the thread but is that true all around the board if you want to become an NP. Should one get the FNP if they want to become a NNP (neonatal nurse NP).

FNP's are working outside of their scope of practice if they work as NNP's.

Specializes in Education, FP, LNC, Forensics, ED, OB.

Thread moved to Student NP forum for best response.

I started out as OB-GYN NP (WHNP now) and later added FNP to be more marketable.
